I wonder if it's worth having a thread dedicated to bugs and glitches on the AW site and apps?

AW has some slick features and frequently introduces new ones. In the past if there was a bug I'd report and usually they seemed to appreciate the feedback. Then one day I got a rude answer saying it was tested on all operating systems and phone types, basically telling me to fuck off. I think that was on Android KitKat so their answer was bollocks. The apps are slightly different for Android and iOS and even the idea that they can be 'thoroughly tested' for every update is pushing it.

A public (or fairly public) thread naming and shaming problems might incentivise them to pull their socks up (or at least be more user-responsive). In cases where the user makes a mistake it will probably be easier to correct with input from other punters. I mean practical bugs/shortcomings rather than fantasy feature list though no harm in trying to get them to improve.

Here's a couple...

(App/desktop on phones) When I search for prossies, location is important as I'm sure it is for many. So I check the link to get a map of her area before hot listing her. If she's within my travel zone I hotlist her and make a note of the area. (Personal taste: if she's hot but outside my area I hotlist her to a "no" hotlist and note her postcode in the profile notes tab). Now here's the annoying thing. If I use the app, there's no dropdown menu to view the area where she lives (do they think none of us have maps on our phones??) so I have to use the desktop version. But the "edit notes" tab rarely works so I have to switch back to the app to edit the notes. (This problem is not a problem if you use a PC or Mac, just if you use phones).

Another one. What's up with the fucking search facility? I've lost count of the number of times I've done a search, nominal parameters (escort, female, area, city, age range) and gone through the results, only then to see a profile pop up on UKP that fits the search parameters but not the results. I haven't checked this on all platforms and multiple devices yet but it happens on enough to be annoying.

Sounds like there has been a change in staff, so they will do things there own way

So since they have monitored UKP (and apparently sent our Admin rude demands from time to time) they'll maybe take note of which side their Dutch or offshore bread is greasily buttered.

It is a sack of shite, but it's a lot better than it was. I remember when searching took hours because of frequent SQL Server timeouts.

Offline Marmalade

Indeed. They make constant improvements. Many but not all are prossie-orientated and the vast number are javascript-dependent. Since we use it, whether it's a sack of shite is less the issue than if, by hook or by crook, we can improve it to our needs.

When UKP was set up, AW had enough holes to manipulate it to an extent by using greasemonkey scripts, but they manage to plug some holes and others (like right-click) are enforceable with operating system or browser software or come as standard.

We can opt out of (most) Romanians, which was a noticeable step forward for punters, but things like their phone apps could still do with some work on them (such as the missing 'show a map of the area' on the app).

I've just done the same search (saved search) and within the same few minutes and got three different results. The iOS app won't sort a search so they are all jumbled up unless for instance you specify a very narrow age range. The difference between searching using the desktop on my phone and the desktop on my computer was nominal, but still there. When I narrowed the search for an age range (18-22), results were even more surprising. The app found 30 profiles, my computer a mere 23. Seconds later I try the desktop version on my phone within exactly teh same search parameters, and it comes up with 39 profiles!

It's quite a fancy search engine: but the results seem to be a tad unpredictable to say teh least...

Does anyone still get text alerts for new members? Mine seem to have stopped. Not massively frequent for Edinburgh anyway so I'm not sure if some crappy spam filter has decided to filter them out. The "you have a new AW message" emails get through ok though.

It's not that I expect AW to be perfect or even punter orientated but they have to make it reasonably punter-orientated so enough punters use it to make the girls pay the commissions or cream off money for PGs and so on. What annoys me slightly is that whereas before they would acknowledge that they were trying to fix things, now they arrogantly brazen it out, so they get less feedback (which doesn't help them or us).

They might be a right load of cunts. They might think the same about us. But that does not totally preclude honest mutual advantage.

I've made a few android apps and can tell you that i didn't just buy a load of phones to test it on. One would use an android emulator to test the various versions. Problem with that is phone companies don't usually use stock android OS. They tweak it to work how they want it to work. Just have to look at the comments on the play store. "Works great on my s3". "Doesn't work on my htc" etc. Getting that bitch to work across the huge spectrum is a nightmare. I'm not sticking up for them. I'm saying that they should know this and take your comments on board instead of bullshitting you

So yes. Could have just wrote +1 but whatever

No it's a good point. fwiw my comments were on an unlocked phone with latest iOS, so Apple junk only. Haven't tried it recently on Android but so many of those fuckers are so loaded with shite from Samsung these days that it barely counts unless the thing's rooted. I imagine writing apps for Android could be a complete nightmare.

I'm not a programmer but as a large number of apps integrate with with eiher GoogleMaps or AppleShitMaps it really can't be beyond AW to include such a basic feature I would have thought.

I have searched as best I could for “AW Search” on this wonderful Site, hoping not to take up valuable space.
Using my PC to find my Hotlists, I hover over “Search” but don’t click.
The Drop-down menu gives me lots of choices, including “My Hot Lists” – yes!
I have recently found that I can use my Samsung to access AW – yes, I really am that tech-savvie.
But how do you hover with a smartphone?
If I “tap”, I get the “general search” which I obviously don’t want.

On the mobile site: adding a wg to hotlist always results in "Error: this person is already in your hotlist".
On the desktop site: When making a search, hovering over thumbnails on the results gives you a hoverbox with a larger picture, but you don't get the same hoverbox when you hover over results on the local escorts page (meaning it's better to just run a search with only the location fields set than to use the "Local Escorts" menu).

On the mobile site, if you forget to sign in or your session times out before doing a search, you can't add a WG to your hot list - you just get "Error :", really annoying  :dash: :dash: :dash:

Find it annoying you can't open w/g's in new tabs from the search. Wastes too much time

I have abandoned the mobile site. The functionality is fucking useless.

I use saved searches to filter my hot lists and proximity to prioritise my results but the pc search is VERY flakey, I suspect from a combination of bugs and data problems.  My PC and mobile hotlist usually are not synchronised.

on a pc hold ctrl and click on the NAME not the photo and it opens in a new tab. On your phone you can open in a new tab by holding the name or photo if your on the main site. Mobile site i don't know

I seem to be having an issue with hot lists today. I have 2, one of which is currently showing empty and the other one only shows that there is 2 profiles. Not had anything happen like this before  :unknown: baffled.

Also if you are browsing one handed and cant reach the ctrl key on the search window, just click on the feedback number, that then pops up on a seperate box, then click on the WGs username in the feedback window and her profile will open in addition to the search window still being there

Only works with WGs who actually have feedback, and feedback is not hidden

Some girls deactivate their account when they aren't working and sunday is a holy day so i inagine most prossies don't work. If it's a huge hotlist then the chances are slim that that's the case but if it's only a few girls then it's possible

Offline MancSean

One thing that I find annoying on thr mobile site is that there is no nationality info so I aways have to double check on the full site.

They both had 20+ profiles on them so it wouldn't have been due to it being a Sunday. Oddly enough I tried logging in on my phone and it was as it should be, then went back to the PC and it was fine. Not sure what that glitch was all about, never come across it before in the 4/5 years I've been using that site.

You get what you pay for lads, which last time I looked, is gratis, free, nothing...

If I was paying an annual sub, I might feel I had the right to moan - just saying  :unknown:

Offline pewpewpew

It's not free. We pay the ladies who pay adultwork to advertise. If there was some competition they would have to up their game to stay popular but as no other site compares they don't give a shit

That's a great tip - I totally didn't think about the ctrl key...

One prob I've found is that if you order search by Rate / Price when you go to the next page it can rearrange the order of the profiles - anyone got a way round that little issue?

Profiles going on and offline.

Hey Roman, was that post a response to my question? If so I don't think that could be the cause, the number of profiles doesn't change - just the order. Also I'm not in a high traffic area that would change so frequently, it's pretty much every time I do a search that's over a page in length.

A lot of the Manchester based Indies have M50, M1, or M3 postcodes and for some reason AW thinks this is the relevant motorways so when you click on the dropdown at the base of the profile to see where they are located, it shows you, Hampshire, Gloucester ect.
