Why not just have a sticky thread for newbies. Just with all the basics that experienced punters take for granted.

That's a good idea, but the problem is that if these people can't be bothered to just hang in with this forum, gather information , read a few reviews etc and then formulate some legitimate, specific questions, would they bother to read such a thread? I guess the genuine ones might.

I hate with a passion these "I am a virgin" topics. I just think nobody is going to come onto a forum full of strangers and say such a thing.

I see the word virgin anywhere in a post and I immediately think troll.

However on the flipside I do think newbies to this hobby do have some outlandish worries/beliefs. I remember before I started this I was quite worried it would be a scam and I would either book a girl and turn out and five burly men would be there behind the door to rob me. Or DCI Meadows would be there in the room to nick me (I did not know it wasn't illegal for quite some time to book a girl).

I also remember I believed it was the guys responsibility to buy the condoms for the punt (I even remember before my first punt on my lunch break going to boots the Chemist in the Metrocentre buying three boxes of them as they were on special offer). Something that I then later found from posts on the forums girls wouldn't even touch them as they would think you have tampered with them anyway.

Personally speaking I think new members who join worried and post something a bit OTT in their worries, their posts should be moved from the UKPunting section to the local forums for them and it should be local people who choose to respond and remove their worries.

But again those people who post the word "virgin" anywhere in their post topic I personally think you are liars and are here to cause trouble.

does that include not wasting police time? I'm guessing this guy wasn't a UKP member.

Unbelievable… man just reported a ‘lady of the night’ for breaching Sale of Goods Act with her looks. Sergeant reshaping the man's attitude.

That makes it sound like it was back in the "good old" West Midlands Serious Crime Squad days with the slippery stairs on the way to the cells.

Late forties and a virgin?

I shudder to think of the life he's had.

I was a virgin until I saw a escort when I was 64 and am still having lots of fun.  :D

I always take my own condoms Anth cos I like the best - I don't get refused but I know what you mean. I also agree that it's incredibly unlikely that a virgin is going to spill all on a punting forum and then actually go on a punt.

Whilst I agree with all the sentiments expressed about so-called newbies/virgins I do think there maybe, just maybe, genuine newbies and virgins out there desperately in need of advice. I do feel, like most of you, that the newbie threads were started by trolls, that's why I refrained posting on most of them.

I also feel that a genuine newbie can read and search the forum to get as much info as they need but in this age of social media people, specially young people, tend to spill all to the whole wide world like a mental diarrhoea; even if they have all the info available in front of them.

I do wonder if, in the ethos of UKP, having a one big informative thread for newbies/virgins might just be helpful. Even if it helps one genuine out of hundreds of trolls I think UKP would have done a great service.

Yes, I also started punting in my late teens about 30 years ago when there was no internet, no forums, no pictures, etc. it was horrible and I did have very many shitty punts that I thought that was the norm at the time. But now that we have the resources to inform new punters why not use them? Granted we will never be free of trolls, that's just the nature of forums and the internet but I have met some young men though work and voluntary work that are just so desperately shy I do feel sorry for them.

If Adam and NIK agree I'm perfectly happy to volunteer to write a big info thread for newbies, so we can all point them to it and hopefully they will learn something useful from that, and if they don't then ban the fuckers.

I absolutely was not, the opposite. You went and found the threads with info you needed and went from there - or it sounded like that. That's the right way IMO.

Ahh, ok that's fine. :)

Just the way I read the second paragraph it didn't come across that way.

Yes, you read what I posted the right way.  I did some research, found LinzieMae, made contact, then booking and so on.   Even left a FR report too.

No, wristjob; certainly not.  If you laughed at that, you'll love what actually happened.

The pedant now known as Rochdull lad began to try to explain the difference between "sympathy" and "empathy" to her!  In the 1/2 hour he'd just paid Sandy's for her time and companionship!!

Guess who's the son of a teacher?!  Guess who wouldn't do it these days?!

Bit of convo today - I was in Sheffield at the time:

Her: "The people here are very nice - down to earth"
Me: "Yorkshire people...."
Her: "Are we in Yorkshire?"

I'm not going to excuse stupidity. But there are some people that seem to think Sheffield is in the Midlands.

I think there is a lot of ignorance generally among the under 25s.  Not sure if they are teaching them the wrong things in school or whether all the TV/PC use/Internet/Texting is having a detrimental affect.

At work we've had a couple of apprentices in the last year, neither could write neatly or spell even basic words correctly, yet they pass exams and tests for english.

Perhaps I am just showing my age...... :scare:

They're all wind-ups, i mean seriously "What does bareback feels like?" as a thread title and subject is just pure trollbait.

And as for the virgin threads if you are a virgin and you've figured out you can go see an escort to change that then why would you bother coming on a punting forum just to post 'I'm a virgin!' everywhere?

I think these types of threads should be modded with extreme prejudice.

Thinking of it further. The ones that annoy me even more are the

"I am a virgin, should I see an escort and give it away from paying or should I wait for the right person."

Why are you asking on a punting forum. What sort of balanced response do you think you will get. That question is like going onto a One Direction fan forum and saying should I go and see one direction or save my money to see if a new boy band ever comes out to go and see.

I know it pisses me off when I hear that.  I had some drongo who thought Sheffield was in Nottinghamshire!
