Why are these pro$$ies so fucking miserable when answering the phone?

They obviously know a punter is ringing them, meaning there's a real possibility they could be earning 16x the minimum wage without any training or overheads. So why can't these bitches at least try and sound upbeat and personable?

As an example: Earlier today I booked my car in for a service at the local garage. The chap on the phone had a better tone than most of these miserable pro$$ies - and he's probably spent half the morning busting his bollocks and skinning his knuckles underneath someone's car (real work).

I have often thought the same thing, a WG should be at her friendly best trying to get punters business as i see it. One good thing though is when i get a misearable disinterested or monotone reply it at least saves me making a booking and meeting a WG who hasnt the kind of attitude i require.

The problem comes in with those bad WGs who are one step above the brain dead ones who cant even pretend on the phone to be friendly who i might book only to find out when i meet them or if even more devious after i have handed my cash over that they arent friendly at all in reality but ice cold. Fortunately those WGs have been relatively low in number.

I've just come off the phone with one now. Complete miserable bitch. She even cut me off mid sentence and put the phone down on me. I was asking about incalls and outcalls and a bunch of other nervous questions. I'm a bit of a rookie, so I was hoping she would have a bit of patience with me. I understand that they must get alot of time wasters, but how about some professional courtesy? I worked in customer service for years and I always greeted customers with friendly tone. Ah well, She just screwed herself out of an easy £120 and hour.

This is why a phone call is so important.  It gives you a real first impression.  If someone cannot be bothered to even pretend to be happy on the phone what the hell are they going to be like in person.  They are obviously not going to be better when face to face. 
Anyone in the service industry where people call to book an appointment need to learn that the first point of contact makes a first impression and that is the decider of if someone should visit you or someone else. 
She may have had a few TWs before hand and in a pissy mood but it is not hard to pretend to be happy whilst on the phone.  A call takes a couple of minutes.  They need to learn if they put on a fake smile whilst on the phone their voice will sound as if they are happy as your voice changes when you are smiling.  Its what most people in any phone related business learn straight away. 

Its the same for any business though,  I wouldn't book a hairdresser who sounded miserable as sin on the phone as would know she isn't likely to want to do what I want, I wouldn't book a builder who sounded like he cant be arsed as would know I would be wasting my money and get a shoddy job done.  First impressions count for so much

I've also had the reverse scenario: where the girl I spoke with to make the booking responded to the name of the wg. Sounded great on the phone and willingly answered my various questions. But the wg I met clearly wasn't the girl I spoke with on the phone. It was a shit punt. One of my less successful TOFTT ventures. 

So, anyway, my point is you can't even guarantee the girl you speak with when booking is the girl you'll end up meeting.

I wouldn't mind as much if only they paid tax and actually gave back to society.

Many of them are just shit at the whole service industry ethos, they either just do not get it or there are enough mugs paying them as much cash as they need.  Not just phone manner but awful or no photos, poorly written profiles, lack of necessary information, shit communication, cancelling at the last minute for clearly made up reasons (today I had attendance at a funeral and a cold from a WG I booked a week ago), clock watching etc etc etc.

While some are no doubt just out to take the money with minimum effort. There must be a high number who had, or still have good intentions , but are fed up with time wasters and the threats they face and just get anxious with new numbers, then you add the ones who have certain amount , if not all , their takings taken by Sergie, Rav, Dave, Tyrone, Ahmed etc and it's not surprising that some lack enthusiasm. Just like we generalize n are cautious, WG ate probably more so.

Not just miserable, but cheap too. They will just barely send a text. I went to visit a regular recently, and she had moved location. Once I arrived, there were a dozen or so newly built flats with a sign at the front giving the name and locations of each court. The name she had given me was wrong. There was a similar one so I phoned her to double check. She was terrible at understanding (EE prossie) and kept repeating the name. After a few minutes of trying to explain I took another look, sent her a text and no reply. A few minutes later I told her I was leaving as the name she gave was wrong. After 10 minutes she called me twice and hung up waiting for me to call. I didn't, mainly because my credit was low and because she hadn't had the decency to answer my texts earlier. She called a third time and it kept ringing so I answered. She was telling me to look for her as she was looking outside the window. This was a good 20 minutes after I had texted her that I was leaving. I explained that I left, and she hung up the phone once hearing that. Rubbish attitude to a regular (not anymore). Sorry for the ramble.
