make sure you click clear cache,  browsing history and auto fill. if that doesn't work click every box and then click clear data

Offline Anadin

Make sure you're not logged in and it's not synced plus I'd probably clear your bookmarks.

worst case scenario you could also go to settings>apps>Chrome and pretty much clear everything from there.

Or just use incognito mode when browsing porn/punting sites.

Yeah, you can use incognito mode on your phone as well as laptop/pc. It stops your phone saving anything in your history

Even though incognito doesn't show up history, does it show up your IP address?  Or is Tor a better way to go?

Yeah, Tor might be a good idea. Maybe try searching the forum for past threads on the subject? I'm sure it'll have been posted about before.

What he said.

If you're just worried about your history then tor is a vital overkill. Incognito mode will be fine. Also have to worry about the phone autocorrelation memory. Type in ukpunting.com a few times and it will just pop up when you type a u. Probably some way to blacklist certain words though

Forgive my ignorance but what is Tor?

Offline Plan R

Tor is a browser like chrome or firefox - just much more incognito

Some may say this is overkill...but...

My fave approach is to use a 'live' operating system
You burn the operating system to a cd, then boot (start up) from that.
It loads and runs completely in ram, in other words when you turn the computer off, the operating system ceases to exist. No operating system = no history (at least on that machine).
Next time you boot up with the CD in the drive, the 'live' operating system load (brand new) again.
This will work on a wanky old laptop, even one with no hard drive whatsoever.
All you need is 1gb of ram. Your toasters probably got that.

Here is a good example of a live operating system

Google incognito mode and a VPN to hide where I'm surfing from my ISP.

I use NordVPN - £80 for 2 years. Works really well - although you have to contact Admin to access UKP with a VPN

Probably some way to blacklist certain words though

There is, on android at least. When a word is suggested above the keyboard, long press on it and a rubbish bin should appear on screen with the words remove suggestion, drop the word into this and it shouldn't appear in your suggested words again. Make sure you do it for usernames as well.

Forgive my ignorance but what is Tor?

TOR is "The Onion Router".

It basically triple encrypts all the traffic from your machine over the internet via a random selection of VPN end points so no-one (especially your ISP, and local govt) know what you are doing.  Its main use is for people who REALLY need to cover their tracks in countries where there their govt might want to harm you for posting to / visiting certain sites.

Its also used by people of the underworld to exchange illicit materials like drugs, weapons, illegal porn, and sensitive information (like wiki leaks)

If you are just worried about someone else using your machine uncovering your habits, then incognito mode (or an alternate device profile) is likely the simplest option.  TOR is over kill.

If you are concerned about your network operator (at work), ISP (at home), or government discovering what you are doing, then TOR is worthwhile, but at this point the horse has probably already left the stable.

Its worth noting, that while the TOR Browser bundle (what "Plan R" was talking about) is mostly secure, its not foolproof. And if you truley need its benefits you should do some research on the best ways to make use of it securely.

That doesn't blacklist the word, just removes it. Type it a few times again and it will re appear.

Use a VPN rather than ToR if you are worried about privacy. There are far more users of the average VPN, and you can hide more effectively in the crowd.

Use incognito mode (both chrome and firefox support this) so you don't have to obsess about clearing cookies/history and so on.

Check browsing history bookmarks cookies and sync on your device it will be one of or a combination of those
I have deleted my search history so many times that the Romans ans Anglo Saxons dont exist anymore :D

That is utter ballocks. There is no such thing as hiding in the crowd. Tor is good for the paranoid.

actually......using TOR makes you stick out like a sore thumb and become a "person of interest" to the security forces.
Makes you more likely to be remotely attacked with a view to seeing if you're a terrorist / drug runner / kiddy fiddler.
Best left alone unless you need to use it for short pop-up sessions from different locations. Using it regularly from one location or PC is a way to get hacked or caught. The authorities CAN track you through TOR

The main question is: what are you trying to achieve?

If you are trying to keep AW and UKP out of your search history, then use Incognito or Private mode as people have suggested.
Having a moment and forget to use incognito? Most browsers now offer the option of deleting the last hour of browsing history, which is handy on a shared computer.

Tor, I2P, and VPN are all designed to mask your browsing from your ISP and the government, and most Tor/I2P setups also include a browser that's configured to run in Incognito mode (above).  I would suggest that most people don't need this unless they are on a work-based connection or are really paranoid about getting caught. At other people have suggested, Tor and I2P also carry other risks, and I'd argue that that having them installed is bound to raise questions from those who understand IT.

Live/temporary operating systems are handy as a 'leave no trace' option. There are distributions that include above masking (Tor, I2P, etc,) and Incognito browsers, and it's easy to burn onto a CD or keep on a USB memory stick.

One thing that people haven't mentioned. OP, it might be that your device is remembering the word 'adultwork' or 'ukpunting', which would be a keyboard option rather than a browser one. You can delete custom dictionary words in the keyboard settings screen.

You can hide in a crowd so long as the PTB can't decrypt everything and/or they don't have control of network ingress and egress points. If either of these are not true all bets are trivially off anyway. For ToR the latter is probably true which is why what scuttybrown says above is true.

If you are just trying to hide your porn viewing history, then subscribing to a service transporting a large amount of encrypted traffic is not a bad thing - and you can always claim to have it in order to watch netflix in america or whaerver

Sounds like you we're signed in to your Google account, or have at some point been signed in and used the Chrome browser on your phone to search AW or PN.

I'd also reccommend taking a look at your Google dashboard and take a flame thrower to those settings. Certainly turn off or update your browser history settings, location services/tracking and linked accounts including devices. It's a frightening place to look and if left unchecked can show browser history, locations you have visited, wifi spots your phone has pinged etc. It's a veritable hot pot of useful information that could be used against you.

And as others have mentioned, look into a VPN. I use PureVPN but have used Nord as someone else mentioned.
