Just heard on the tv news that two Eastern European girls in the Bristol Harbourside area have been rescued from a sex trafficking ring. Another reason to avoid girls controlled by Sergei and to seek out independents.

Two women have been found at properties in Bristol as part of a human trafficking and sex exploitation investigation.

The two women are both from Eastern Europe and are now receiving support from agencies including charities Unseen and The Salvation Army.

A 49-year-old man and 37-year-old woman were arrested in Cheshire and remain in police custody.

Detective Superintendent Liz Tunks, Head of Major Crime Investigation, said: “The people involved in human trafficking and sexual exploitation are organised criminals who target some of the most vulnerable people in our society.

“On Wednesday, two people were arrested on suspicion of exploiting women across our country, including two in the heart of Bristol.

“We are still working with them to establish exactly what their experiences are, but know there are many more women, children and men living the same very miserable and fearful existence.

“Victims are often reluctant to seek help themselves as they don’t know who to trust, where to get help, or face fears of deportation or violence.

“I would ask anyone who suspects human trafficking, sexual exploitation or forced labour is happening in their area to contact us.”

As I recall, the police use a threshold of about £800 for a "significant" theft - and, last time I checked, Scarlette was actually the only one on our blacklist who qualified.  But nothing will happen,  because of the exemption for "contracts involving sexual services".

Yes, I know, I'm "advocating a criminal act" again, it seems to be a bad habit of mine.  But the police use some discretion about which cases they pursue, and a theft from an escort who has herself stolen £900 from a client and gotten off on a technicality (and then blackmailed him into silence by threatening to have him outed, which might actually be a crime in itself) probably wouldn't be a high priority.  I can imagine them writing up a report and then burying it in a filing cabinet somewhere.

And if the police ARE monitoring this thread, they could now flag her up as a "possible victim of crime" and go pay her a visit, which would be a perfect excuse to have a quiet word about her behaviour.  As I mentioned on another thread recently, it's currently a bit too easy for her to pretend that UKP doesn't exist and carry on regardless.  Arranging a "friendly visit" from the police would be a result in itself.
