Hi all. I saw a prossie some time ago who contacted me via LinkedIn a few months after the fact.
Obviously she now knows my real identity (punt was organized via a dumb phone with a PAYG sim ). Turns out we belonged to the same professional association, which is how she tracked me.  My LinkedIn account is mandatory for work (including a picture). I have ignored the connection request.  I found this very uncomfortable and wondered if there were an ideas on how to deal with this or similar experiences.  Thanks.

I assume you're worried about her 'outing' you? But if you may also know her real identity through your professional association would she be silly enough to do anything like that? What's good for the goose..................!!

why would you tell a hooker your real job.

I told the hooker nothing about who I was or what I did. She must have been browsing through a members list or was connected because we were in the same geographical area by the matching engine.

In terms of outing it has more to do with family risk for me and the possible fall out from that.

Offline con-a-ser

You probably used you mobile phone to phone her & log in to Linkedin
I often get the same as recommended friend on facebook
lucky I only use a con-a-ser face book account on that phone & not my private one

just ignore her, if anything negative comes of it that affects work or family....just deny all knowledge of this fantasist.

she's got nothing in you except a pay as you go phone number which links you to nothing.

I use a basic Nokia punting phone specifically not to have any form of social/professional media app connect with my punting phone.

I also figure this is the way to go.

Your LinkedIn account with photo is mandatory for work? So you're working in recruitment then. A lot of the female recruiters have quite "suggestive" photos in which they're pouting, and/or showing off their assets, looking sexy and hot. It's designed to attract attention of course in the hope that a man seeking employment would call them for a job rather than a less attractive one. Sometimes when I'm bored of porn I browse such profiles for masturbation encouragement :D

That sounds unlikely...

Cheers!  :drinks:

I'm not on LinkedIn but I got a message from an old friend along the lines "Hi, I'm Dave and I've joined LinkedIn......". He didn't deliberately send it though, it was done sort of automatically by LinkedIn when he joined (like you, at the behest of his employer).
My point is that she probably didn't deliberately target of contact you - it was an automated thing most like. How their system Hoover's up her contacts I've no idea...... Maybe there was no direct link? Maybe it just put you together as two professionals who have something in common like location, interests, age or something? Still a bit disconcerting though I grant you.

She probably did this 'innocently'. Just call her (with your punting phone) and tell her it is not discreet of her.

Nah. this sounds too much like some sort of fantasist dreaming.

I'm calling BS.

Something here doesn't add up

Most groups on Linkedin contain hundreds and hundreds of folks

You telling me, you didn't give her your name or job but she just found you?

I'll tell you this...LinkedIn is like a virus. Once isntalled on your phone especially it pretty much takes over. I have had suggestions from Linkedin to people who's I've sent an email to once, yes ONCE on a totally seperate Yahoo mail account (but critically on the same smartphone)

My guess is that OP used a smartphone somewhere along the line and a most likely his personal smartphone and the data has been leaked somewhere along the line

As others have said, ignore and move on. . . . Also try not to make the same mistake again

Have come across a couple of WGs who have linkedin profiles under their WG working name, when I've googled their working name. Quite why you'd want to link to them gawd knows.

For those not on linkedin you do have to send an invite to connect with someone, then there's the separate list of people you may know. Guess that's pretty similar to fb.

Do recall linkedin didn't like it if you tried to contact/link with someone outside of your professional field.

He already has his face up there, lol. What other confirmation!
