Like all sensible punters, if any girl offers bareback I categorise this girl as one best avoided. However to my shock and horror I came across a AW profile from a girl who is a regular at a sex party I’ve attended and offers bareback (via her AW profile) and justifies it because she is on PreEP and can prove regular testing.

It’s been a very long while since I saw her and been tested since but …. I couldn’t believe a girl like her would offer bareback especially when she must know how it looks. I did a short search on PrEP and again i was shocked to read PrEP is safer than condoms in preventing HIV transmission…..??!????

I would never take the risk in any case but the question is ….. if a girl on PrEP and offers bareback is she in a separate class than the cheap risk takers that usually offer Bareback?

I guess in a perfect world they would use both condoms & PrEP.

From the NHS website and a few others there is mention of PrEp causing kidney problems and osteoporosis for some (a few) people.

If a punter or SP wants to take Prep as a protection against HIV then brilliant.

However I think that to say that is an open season to do bareback as a bit of a leap. There are a lot of nasties out there that can cause a lot of issues and that isn't something that should be encouraged or normalised.

You are also dependent the worker takes the drugs (and the contraceptive pill) and that they are from a reliable source.

My understanding is that Prep has to be accompianied by regular testing and I think that there is a great case for everyone being much more open about their testing status.

Not all escorts who offer bareback are cheap risk takers, some are very expensive risk takers and charge a substantial amount more for it.

HIV is only one of many STIs that only a condom can lower the risk of.

As far as I know, Prep does not protect against Gonorrhea or Syphilis, and there is some evidence that users (in a study of gay men) of Prep have slightly higher incidences of other sti's as they perhaps took more risks believing that they were "safe"

I guess, the faulty thinking here might be "Well HIV could be really serious (true) but the others aren't (not true)

I've said it many times (as have others) - I punt on the basis that everyone is doing bb with someone and I can't control that. So, I take the risks I'm prepared to take (Owo, deep throat and rimming) and get tested regularly.

Always best to don the condom before taking the plunge.

Might stop HIV transmission, but does it stop Chlamydia, Syphilis, Gonorrhoea, HPV, Genital Warts etc etc etc?

I deny all knowledge!!!!!

I always wonder what good testing would do, and would a girl quit her job because she tested positive for HIV. Most likely she'd take HIV drugs and decide the risk to punters was low enough.

Excellent point. I guess mentally you do think you're safer because you're focusing on HIV.

One of the reasons for higher sti in the youths today is because of treatments for some sti. So generates false sense of safety.
