Hi guys, been seeing a rise in fake profiles created to lure punters on backpages

Thought we could have a dedicated thread to Name, shame and warn punters with Intel.

Fair point, i refrained from providing the direct Instagram account link thinking the same... but you are right....

probably sharing the Insta account ID does the same damage....will make sure not to add them in the future.

I think this, while noble, is probably not worth the effort. Surely this thread will be massive in just a few days. I always see the same ads with recognisable glamour models and one is even using External Link/Members Only  , these ads seem to be posted daily with minor changes.
Plus I only just now realised there's also dating section where escorts also post ads.
I just assume all ads are fake especially ones with professional pics and ones that look like Instagram selfies. Might be easier to say which ones are genuine.

It's still worth noting down if it saves punters a wasted journey then it's worth doing. Similar to when I started the bareback avoidance thread certain people criticised it, but when others said it saved them from meeting girls who offered bareback or from skanks that changed profiles on a daily basis. It proved to be a good thread that helps out punters.

I can't see it helping much given the scale of the problem, most ads look fake to me. The other problem I guess is that people posting a new ad unlike AW won't have the same user ID. So you can't easily search it and several eagle eyed posters may report the same ad here too (if that makes sense) so in a short time it'll just be a very big thread with perhaps only the newest last few pages worth looking at but if y'all wanna do it fair enough.

backpages links also have an id, which can be searched for on UKP

Ok yeah the post ID which forms that last part of the URL. Still it seems to change with each posted ad & maybe it's just me but doesn't seem to bring up any results. Anyway good luck.

Few things which you could act as unique identifiers for Backpages adverts
- post id
- the code at the end of the URL
- photos
- most importantly the contact phone number - 90% of the time the number stays the same while the posting changes.
