Author Topic: The punting business about to change?  (Read 1846 times)

As a relative new cummer (!) to the punting world I have tried to look around at what's on offer, different services and what other punters are about and what they look for.

Seems to me there are a few themes:

1) The market is dominated by AW but the site and the way it tips in favour of service providers is rightfully unpopular but for a long time nothing else comes close to threating its power.

2) Punters are diverse and look for a variety of things from 'pump and dump' to the rise of the GFE experience and other tastes.

3) Punting is a growing market and reckon lots more people do it than would openly share for obvious reasons.

Looking around this site the question that came into my mind was is the punting world changing?

Sex is more available than ever, more and more people are experimenting and all age ranges want more 'moments' in their lives.

With the rise of sites like AW, Tinder and Seeking Arrangements could the market be shifting? I'm thinking it could and more sites and agreements where people exchange what they have could radically affect sites like AW. After reading the SA off topic thread, it appears that lots of punters are moving into a different way to meet and pay for sex and female company and I wonder if this continues, how it will affect AW?  A running theme on the SA thread is that lots of women appear to be prepared to have sex for cash but find the idea that they maybe escorts or hookers terrible to consider. Hmmmm....sex sells, we all know that....suppose it's how it's sold?

I think AW is a good site but it took me to come here to understand how skewered it is towards service providers and it's market dominance seems to have gone to its head and maybe its ripe for a different model to rival it and if so that can only be good for punters.

What would be better? I would suggest something that improves the power balance and that might mean punters paying to access as a business is always going to support those who make its profits and as (I think I'm correct here?) AW's main profits come from service providers, punters who pay to access a WG site might have more power? Also, adding a proper rating system based on feedback to the site rather than to the WG so honest views may be more forth coming? Finally, what about dividing service providers into sections and including more diverse ones and a get to know you section or similar so those offering services engage with users in a different way?

What you reckon?

I reckon you should abstain from posting after a few shandy's.  :hi:

Not my concern, things evolve has never bothered me, and future changes wont to.

I agree with little of what you posted.  Your view on change is too narrow in time scope for starters.  Rise of the GFE? What evidence do you have that men wanted this only recently?  To track a change, you need evidence, not gut feel. Hungarians arriving has greater influence than AW I think.

1) The market is dominated by AW
They make money from the web, not directly from escorting. What market do they dominate? They don't dominate the market I care about. ITV does not dominate the market for lipstick - L'oreal does.

but the site and the way it tips in favour of service providers
Because of UKP, I have all the power with my spend, the SP have no power. They pay AW I don't.  Don't see the SP power - I see punters with all the power.

is rightfully unpopular
How do you define popular? They are my most popular way to search out escorts, and I don't pay them.  Agency website are worse and cost me more.  So why do you say they are unpopular?  Have you noticed the shit we give Sugarbabes and Maxes? I want AW to be better but for now I would call it a popular website to find escorts.

I am lost. What do you mean, and what evidence do you have.

Bored now.  I struggle with all the rest too.

The biggest problem is maneuvering around the prostitution laws. If you set up a site offering the best pro$$ies in the UK, independently reviewed, etc and start charging punters a membership you run the risk of having your collar felt.

I don't think punting has changed much, it is more likely that diverse opinions are more accessible through UKP.

If you think AW stinks of bullshit try reading a few of the pre-internet punting stories where a 15 second phone description was as much as you got. "Late 20s and curvy," might not be as desirable as you imagined in the flesh.

Seems you cant please everyone, used to enjoy punting more back then personally, so clinical these days and the more mainstream it gets the longer the queues.

It has become more affordable compared to about 15 years ago. The reasons for this are almost too obvious to mention. Back then a 1 hour punt seemed insanely extravagant and difficult to justify - far more than any other treat or undulgence. Now it's roughly on a par with dinner for two in a good restaurant.

I think the internet has made more choice available more than anything else. Excepting bait and switch, you know what you are getting and can choose accordingly. Mid 20s sex bomb? Loads of them and quite probably not British. Mature slim and bright? Not so many but at least we can seek them out. Just a sweetie shop that is diversifying all the time isn't it??

Adultwork helped me find more of what I am looking for, i.e. BDSM-sort-of fetish services without the archetypal "dominatrix mistress".

That it favours service providers (does it?) may be because they are the ones (I assume) paying the site most of its money. It costs me £2.40 to place a reverse booking. Aside from that (given I use it only to find escort services) I pay the site nothing.

Always remember that the WGs are "willing partners" in what we want, albeit they expect payment for it. In return, we tend to be more "in control", i.e. we initiate the sessions when it suits us, doing what suits us, and tend to have a bit more choice in who we see than they do.

And what I like about punting is that I can see different WGs for different things, depending what I am desiring and who I think is best to provide that.

The internet is both a blessing and a curse to punting.
