Its not illegal to possess in the UK, you can buy it openly with a private prescription.
Only problem would be if it was banned at your country of destination or transit, but thats unlikely.

I wouldn't actually "take" it though -limited options for sex on a flight, and it could cause blood pressure / thrombosis complications

I fixed ambiguity in OP. I meant taking viagra abroad or another part of UK  in your luggage by flying. Not sure if 100mg available on private prescription in UK but obviously from the internet it is not likely that it would be marked as prescribed by a doctor.

My 100mg is on a regular NHS GP monthly prescription. I have taken mine on flights without any problems so far

if you buy it online from AP or Lloyds or Dr Fox you actually get it via a legal private script - its part of the ordering process. The questionnaire is the validating process. Totally legal.
As long as you don't resell them, that could get you done   for prescribing without a licence

I have flown with it to France (week in Cap D'Agde) and to Holland (weekend at swingers clubs) so definitely needed it for both occasions. As it is legal in the UK, I assumed it would be the same throughout the EU. I suggest you check with the relevant country if outside Europe though. For instance, Jamaica always used to require a Doctors letter to support any medicines being brought in - even routine prescription medicines like for asthma. The risk was confiscation and destruction of any items without separate documentation. I believe that was about 3 years ago when I was considering visiting Hedonism after a ten year gap (never went back in the end).

I happen to have a lot of 100mg already from the internet which were not prescribed. So it was not me reselling without a license but the person who sold them to me.

I guess that European countries would not be that bothered. Presumably the worst that could happen is that the ones I have on me will just get confiscated.
50mg is available over the counter anyway in the UK and 100mg may be available over the counter in other European countries.

No just stick the viagra in my luggage.

Suppose it would depend on the quantity, a half dozen tablets would be considered personal use, and any half decent border control could find out it's legally prescribed in UK , however taking 7kg worth of tablets may be viewed differently

I always take a couple of pills with me in my hold luggage, just in case I might feel the urge when I travel to Europe, not had a problem so far.

It is definitely worth checking the rules of the countries you are travelling to and transiting through as some of them may surprise you as to what medications they ban which are basic meds in the UK.  The penalties will also vary, it can be more than confiscation.  It could end up with a time in prison for some basic meds.

I get them from Lloyds pharmacy and make sure I get a receipt/prescription note every time.

Taking Viagra onto a plane causes it to stay airborne too long and overshoot its destination. Luckily, though, it's ready for a return flight in only 5 mins.

Be careful if you are carrying it into some of the Middle Eastern countries. Check the rules online first. Also, be mindful of places like Singapore - I cannot remember the current rules, but I avoided taking it with me when I last went there a few years ago, just to be cautious.

Some South East Asian countries have the odd strange law as well - eg. in Laos, it is illegal for a foreigner to have sex with a local. So, I guess being stopped at the airport there with some V in your bag may require some explaining.

Take a copy of the prescription with you just to be sure.

UAE - Abu and Dubai should be fine... branded and generic Viagra and Cialis are readily available in all strengths over the counter.  Mate of mine brings them back and forth regularly with no prescription and no bother. Obviously though he's not carrying loads of boxes or 'shipment weight' of the stuff.

Good point and why some fall foul of carrying codiene based medication in the UAE, even if transiting.
Always check what medicines may be banned at your destination.
