Author Topic: What's happened to Gumtree?  (Read 1458 times)

Anyone else noticed that you can no longer access the telephone number from Gumtree ads when you click to reveal the telephone number.

If you want the telephone number, you now need to register with Gumtree (unless the telephone number is contained in the body of the advert).

I know that there are better ways to punt than to use Gumtree, but sometimes there are opportunities to be had.

I wonder if this change will mean that Gumtree will no longer be an option  for sourcing punting opportunities?  :unknown:

Just register with a fake name and use your spurious email, I've just done it.    :hi:

Yeah, I've done the same, daviemac, but I wonder if it will deter some.

Could do I suppose, no doubt time will tell. As you say it's not the best source.

Yes, it is mighty irritating.  So, bye bye Gumtree, was a good 10 years.

I use gumtree quite a lot for business purposes , the reason they added this requirement is because recently there has been a huge spike in spammers harvesting phone numbers ,, basically you place an add within minutes you receive a phone call  " Been involved in an accident "    "New phone contract"
