Vietnam - What's to know?

I've got the chance of squeezing 7-9 days in Vietnam in a couple of months, and my research is bringing up lots of conflicting info. I've punted in quite a few different countries in Asia (HK, Macau, Philippines, Thailand, Korea, Japan, Indonesia), so I'm definitely no newbie. Plan was to travel around a bit, spending a couple of days each in HCMC/Saigon and Hanoi, plus potentially a third desination.

It looks like the going rate for a fuck is 2m dong, which doesn't sound too bad at current exchange rates. Yet I see lots of people complaining about it being 'expensive' - am I missing some hidden 'extras' here?

It seems like I'm not going to find the kind of girlie bars I enjoyed so much in Thailand anywhere in Vietnam, unless I'm missing something? Lots of talk about the Little Japan bars in Saigon being a poor/scammy version of this. Would Phnom-Penh be any better for this, as it's only a short hop away?

Are there any places in Saigon or Hanoi worth checking out? I particularly loved the upscale spas in Macau, that I haven't found anywhere else since.

I didnt punt there as was on business and had no opportunity, but Saigon is your best bet in VN-lots of very hot FLs around walking street, but finding a guest friendly hotel can be a challenge. There are a few hostess bars in SGN but these can be scam central, so exercise caution. ISG is a good resource. Ive heard mixed reports about Danang as a third option, and most reports I read about Hanoi is that punting is really a lot of hassle.

If your time is limited, I would head to Phnom Penh - I havent been but research sounds like it is a lot less hassle punting there. I liked Saigon, crazy place and exhausting after a few days and the VN girls are very hot, was a regret I couldnt find a way to punt but thems the breaks. HTH

I was in Hanoi back in October and it certainly is a stark contrast to other countries I’ve visited in Asia . singapore and Thailand both I found great for access and options .. however Hanoi was a different ball game….

Like you… I did a lot of research and had a very much of no expectations trip … I did what I could and it turned out to be ok… but not great

I reached out to a fair few and most replied. I shortlisted and got back in contact when landed… it’s worth noting that however good the adverts are and the possibility the actual girl will show up are .. the one I contacted didn’t turn out to be her - she was still great so I went ahead. As access was limited I called her back after 2 days with her friend for a threesome.
Again the pics she sent me of her friend was. It the girl that came with her. I paid 5000 each .. (5000 first visit and 5000+5000 for the threesome.

Yes I guess that is a bit expensive but Massage Republic and City of Love are similar with most asking for 5000 for an hour.

I went to a massage place on day 2, no FSon offer however the girl I met did give me
Her number and said she would do FS but not in massage place but can
Come to my hotel. I didn’t get the chance however even though she did reach out if I wanted her to come the following day… I believe she wanted 2500…

Beyond that I didn’t find any thing …

And a word of advise don’t go with one of those guys touting for business - I got mugged off, shotty attitude. From girl and walked out without massage or anything - while I could hear 5 feet away on the next bed the guy fucking the brains out this girl… room was a bit like a hospital ward with curtains separating the beds ..


I’d say … reach out in advance and shortlist ones you like and feel comfortable are genuine… one agreed to have a video call in advance - I declined after the call as iwe didn’t click ..

When you say you paid 5000 do you mean 5000000 because 5000 dong is 16p in sterling?

I was in both Hanoi and Saigon last year,Hanoi is a bit of a desert for punting but hard work. I found Saigon much better, on Bui Vien street there are massage shops where you can get a hand job for 500000 and a blow job for 800000 dong ,little Japan is good for FS the women are outstanding as in beautiful, look to pay anything from 1.5 to 2.5 million dong, I hope that helps.

I should know better as in a taxi the driver replied to my how much question at the end of a trip - 50 was the reply ! I was taken a back and then I handed him the money. He asked for more which confused me… he eventually said 50,000’ not 50! Which instantly made more sense

So I go to HCMC for business once a year and have managed to have some fun there, but as you rightly said it's not as much fun as Thailand. I've been to Hanoi and found it to be difficult for punting. Da Nang also. Outside of punting, very cool places.

Frustratingly my schedule in HCMC is always unpredictable so I find booking escorts through City of Love etc impractical. Locals like to us a site called Gaito to book freelancers for incalls at short time hotels. The website is often taken down and reappearing again under different domains. For last minute meets I found it unhelpful. Punting online in VN is hassle in my opinion and nearly all girls are B&S.

I've never had much luck with Hot Tocs so can't say much.

The higher end massage places in HCMC are my go to places. A favourite of mine is

They have a few locations but I go to the one on Calmette. YMMV but I've never had FS there, but I have had some proper raunchy times there.
Minh Minh Tam massage near Viet Nam Quoc Tu is also a good high end place where YMMV but again I've never had FS.
Linh Cherry in Little Tokyo is a popular FS massage place which I have only been the once.

I'll be going again in the coming weeks and if i get ample opportunity to punt and explore I will write a post. I'll be hoping to have more luck trying a Gaito girl or 2. I'd like to try the KTV experience there and I've got a few more massage places to try.
