Author Topic: Schools could suggest prostitution as a career to pupils  (Read 2968 times)

Offline Squire Haggard

Its a nice idea, but I dont think that its going to happen.

''A Liberal Democrat councillor has told a party conference that schools could suggest prostitution as a career to pupils.
Dennis Parsons, who is chairman of the Cheltenham Liberal Democrats, made the comment during a special session on sex work.
The retired civil servant said school career officers are currently not allowed to mention prostitution as a potential line of work, but added: 'Why shouldn't they?'

I don’t have anything against pro$$ie’s per se,
(as long as they conduct themselves honestly and don’t treat punters like mugs)
Or anyone wanting to become a prostitute

But to promote whoring to school kids is fucking disgraceful, it is morally wrong on many levels

Hard to imagine any of the teachers talking about this and getting the approval of the parents. Im sure lots of he daddies cant wait to teach their daughters about sex work.

Offline shaunogg

Not forgeting that the teachers are talking to15-16 year old girls.
From that perspective its a fucking brainless idea.

I think most students struggle with A levels so taking on practical experience is not the way to go. I know were now a big service country but We're sunk when kids career counselling Includes Prossieing. Sick in my view  :hi:

But how should a teacher or career advisor respond to such a question as "Sir, what do you think of prostitution as a job?"

("see me after school Emily" is not an acceptable answer!)

Seriously though, the teacher should give an honest answer and prostitution is not illegal, plus it could possibly be Emily's best option!

Sitting on the fence here and simply throwing it out there for comments.  :hi:

Do you want to lay on your back while a guy fucks you & work more than 8 months a year? But if you can't then you'll have to be a teacher then because they don't work more than 8 months a year. ...those who can't teach. (3 months off when kids are off then 1 month off during term time when kids get fined for having holidays) But if your an escort you can work on your holidays too or get a guy to pay for yours.

No teacher would suggest it because they have had training in Erikson theory of development, health and social care and all the attendant child protection laws.

If it was a 15 year old girl asking them about being a prossie then its getting refered to the schools family worker.

The orginal idea was suggested by a liberal politician and any consideration of the idea is the worst kind of neo-liberal bollocks.

At such an suggestible age

The lure of large amounts of easy money & peer pressure,
just might influence them enough into spreading their legs and gobbling cock for a “career”

Instead of pursing a path where they realize and Reach their True Potential

As if parents are going to stand for this.  Nothing wrong with prostitution but I can't see schools going ahead with this.  Had to be a Lib Dem didn't it.

This sums up perfectly the contradiction that we ALL have.

On a lighter note, I found this amusing not sure if it is deliberate Daily Mail humour or not

"They are certainly not my views. Drawing the equivalence between sex work and accountancy is not one that I share.

'I think we are in a position where we are a liberal party and it's not for me to go telling anyone that they can't have views and share them.

'That's how you get to the bottom of these things."

Delegates heard that decriminalising prostitution would raise £1 billion a year for the Treasury in taxes.

Blimey.  Imagine visiting your favourite parlour and finding a girl from the local comprehensive there on work experience!

It would be nice to think we could give society a more balanced view of non-exploitative sex work as a viable option in a legalised environment, but teaching that to kids still in school?  Probably not the best idea(!)

If an adult without any coercion what so ever makes an informed choice, that’s fine

But it is very important that they are not forced in any way and fully understand the consequences both good and bad,

It should be a” career” only open to adults to get advice on,
Promoting prostitution to school kids is morally corrupt, and open to abuse

Most children won’t fully comprehend or truly know what they want to do with their lives
and could be directed into entering prostitution by unscrupulous “career advisers”

In this country there is no need or excuse to whore yourself to survive,
 and should only do it because it’s something they want to do, for whatever motives that individual has;
a decision that shouldn’t be taken to lightly.

When I read the article the thoughts that came into my mind that in the main this would be directed to girls and secondly, to those girls of the poorer class.

There go the liberals again tearing at the fabrics. Next they will be handing out grants so that two gay pedos can adopt a little filipino boy. Oh no wait they've already done that :D

Offline howrude

I think its best if the sex industry is outside the establishment.

Offline Hertsgent

This could be in the lib dems manifesto like the abolishment of student loans was in 2010. People could them vote them in and be surprised when they did the exact opposite and banned prostitution so a few of the smarmy cunts could play big politics for a few years!

Jesus, I bet mumsnet went into meltdown over that article  :scare: Suggesting prostitution as a career choice to school kids is just ridiculous. How did he ever think that suggesting it was anything but career suicide?

On a more general note though it wouldn't be a ridiculous idea for any school staff who are involved in careers advice to at least be given a little guidance on how to handle that kind of question if it is raised by a pupil. There are some school leavers who will see it as a possible job option and if they are simply given the Daily Mail version of what it involves that I suspect most teachers will think then it could be just as harmful. Some young people will go into this line of work regardless but may make some bad choices regarding how to go about it and put themselves and others at risk.

Don't promote the idea but make sure that if they are going to do it anyway at least try and make sure that they are well informed so that they can stay as safe as possible. Just a thought  :unknown:

Sweet jesus.... Imagine how many girls under 18 would take this up if they suggested this in schools?  :scare: would be a fricking nightmare!

You already have tons of sluts in schools doing stuff like that with their classmates/older men for alcohol, fags etc... what if they realise they can get £100+ for an hours work?!?!? I'd hate the idea of seeing someone advertising as 18-20 if this was the case.

Also sadly you would have 14-16 year olds selling themselves

Too much media from fashion, music and movies promoting slutish behaviour
Plus the realisation of getting large sums of money
and well you know some silly bitch will end up selling their arse thinking it’s cool :(

And quite a few punters could unwittingly end up in prison and on registers  :scare:
