I think the kudos thing is shit personally. I reply to posts, not some image behind a post. There's people that hardly review at all (very few admittedly) but whose contributions are valued by enough people with enough good reason. UKP is a bit like a club that meets down the pub. Admin has bought the drinks and keeps us a table. It's bad patter not to give something back.
It's a forum for sharing info. So the chap who has been on for over a year and only posted one review does stand out a bit. It's not that multiple reviewers feel superior -- I'm pretty sure they don't -- but it's a bit like, if you're not owning up to your punting among mates, what are you doing here? Why should everyone else put themselves on the line if you don't? People's situations vary a lot but that's the bottom line.
I don't review every WG I punt. I can't be bothered. But, as with any social situation, I take a look and see if I'm putting something in the plate, at least to justify a bit what I'm taking out. Leaving it a day or two before posting a review helps to cover your tracks if you punt in a smaller community. This is useful as sometimes if I feel a need to post a stinker of a review it can slightly reduce the possibility of repercussions from her mates.
Yet writing up an 'old' punt -- even a few days later, is like shovelling shit. I emptied my balls and most prossies merge into a nameless combined cash-n-pussy receptacle after a bit. Even after a few days, it's like, why the fuck would I bother remembering her details?? So I put the review in note form when I get home. The smell of her is still fresh on my face and groin. Try to think what details are relevant to help another punter. Then post it a bit later and delete the note.
Not a rule though, even for myself. In Latin America we'd do two or three a day, with maybe sitting with a beer in the the shit-and-sunshine and rippling flesh in between. They were a fiver a pop and mostly quite a cheery and indie bunch. I'd use a small notebook, partly to remember their name if they were any good and partly to post a quick review in list form on ISG (as this was pre-UKP).
The main things I get from UKP just now are a) the AW search number system, which is great for running through a hotlist at speed before booking in case I've accidentally hotlisted a stinker, and b) the foreign punting section, where I sometimes take notes for places I'm likely to visit.
I don't feel a 'duty' to review: but I saw the shit that Nik went through setting up UKP, and the immense generosity of Admin, the guy with the technical know-how to fight off the multiple and very insidious DOS attacks. The guys who put UKP together went through quite a bit, and, if you value the site, that surely deserves some respect, and as good a reason to post a few reviews as any. Remember it's a fun hobby, not just for you but for the next guy (who wants data, not cock-ring size and fucking fanny-adoration).
There's people like Smiths who post far more reviews than my situation allows just now and more than most people (and solid ones -- heaps of ill-thought-out fluff helps no cunt, and 'high score reviewers' who post shit to get a number-count up will get spotted eventually and given a free hike transfer to UKE).
The high reviewers are not some public yellow pages of prossiedom, or ego-chasers. They do it to help others. Newcomers and non-reviewers should understand that that deserves some respect I think, and at least a bit of give and take.
Fuck. End of unintentional sermon!
