There are various 'reasons' given, for not seeing black guys as far as WGs are concerned.

Like anything else, there's often more than one factor at play. I think in some cases these factors do indeed simply hide racism on the part of the WG. My personal experience is, black people see mixed race (black/white), as black and some times in error. I say in error, cos my mum is black, but has the same complexion as my son, most of the year apart from, sometimes in winter, when my son, is in need of a tan White people it depends, obviously the far right will always see non-whites as black and some of my white friends see my son as black or mixed race. Difficult question to answer, as it’s anecdotal.

My experience maybe unique, as my family is full of different races, some of my cousins, are actually white, but their grand dad is black. A bit like Ross Barkley, who’s grandad is black My mixed race nephew , is married to a Sikh .

And I hate to deliver a dreadful cliche, but one of my best friends to this day is, yes, black. I stayed with him for two weeks in LA in January. The only times my ex and I were attacked for being together was in London,  by a black guy. And the only time I felt real hostility was when I walked into a bar full of black guys in New Jersey.

I think truth be told, there's probably just as much racism in the Black community as in the White community, but the Black community is more affected overall because they are smaller in number across the country.
