Author Topic: Logistics of a punting day trip?  (Read 2843 times)

Offline Justanotherman

I live 40-60 mins on the train to London, depending on that days schedule.

So going in is easy enough.

Quite fancy a punting day trip with a morning and afternoon punt.

How do I make it work?

Normally only do incalls because it's totally anonymous and i only carry house key, punting phone and exact cash needed.

Can't do that on a day trip into London as you'd need a credit card, regular phone etc etc unless you want to carry several punts worth of cash with you and extra cash for train ticket, coffee etc.

Is the only answer to get a cheap hotel room as a base and come and go to top up cash etc?

Are there locker places? And would you leave your wallet there even if there was?

Maybe a punting day trip I can drive to is a better idea,.as I can then use the car as a locker. But London is otherwise so convenient it's very preferable to a few hours in the car.

I'm guessing you are worried about your electronic footprint? Because you seem to be really over complicating things otherwise.

I'm just struggling a little to understand your circumstance, because if you are worried about taking a card into the smoke because of detection, how are you explaining away being uncontactable for a whole day?

Just take the extra cash with you. Once you've paid the first SP then you are carrying the amount you would take to the second punt. Keep the cash in separate pockets or the extra in a bag with multiple hiding places.

Offline southcoastpunter

why don't you put a card on your phone - then you can use it like a contactless "real" card. book your tickets ahead and pick them up beforehand. and book a couple of Escorts ahead like you might normally do. You only then have to worry about protecting your phone and the cash you carry.

Can't see what the issue is. it seems simple enough to me. You are over thinking it!! Especially as you aren't new to this game. You have a resonable amount of experience under your belt!

I'd just take the extra cash tbh and bank card as backup. Maybe the thought of all that extra cash will put you off or make you nervous I don't know, but how often are you robbed really? You'll be fine. Since you're planning a "day out" don't worry about things that will make it it less enjoyable. Go enjoy and do what you feel and spend your money on whatever takes your eye(lunch, snack, museum entry)

With lockers I'm not up to date, but major bus stations, train stations usually have lockers or maybe Luggage storage(so you'd need a bag maybe). Just ask staff/info desks in the stations if they have it or where it is. Be mindful of any closing times for said Luggage storage though.

A day hotel is a good thing.  Pretty anonymous - they have my punting email and I pay with my punting PAYG card.  Both have only my first initial and my last name.  They don't ask for passport. Not that the hotel gives a shit anyway.  Some day hotels let you pay in cash, but I don't bother with this anymore.  Actually, for me the larger risk is running into a friend.  Very small risk, clearly, but it can happen.  I have a story ready.

That way, you are open to any of the outcall only escorts. Some will come in from the home counties (may need to place a RB to find). It is very relaxing to chill in the hotel room and have the escort come to you.  One at 11:00.  Another at 1:00.  Maybe wrap up the day with a trip to phoenix club.

For me, a day hotel in London is a very good use of £70.

Enjoy.

What the hell. !!!!

Blimey. If punting was this complicated for me I’d seriously consider giving it up altogether.

Another option is picking your first appointment from someone on the outskirts of London, driving and parking near that location and then traveling in by train to the second appointment - with a spot of lunch along the way.

I was thinking the same. I bet his weekly trip to Asda is a fuckin nightmare. Big trolley ? small trolley ? basket ? Tills or self service ? £1 coin or token in the trolley ?

I was a bit confused by this too. Sounded a bit like Tinker Tailor Soldier Escort. Guess the OP is very, very worried about being traced doing this hobby.

Feel quite lucky. Single. Can book any escort I want. Of course no one in my personal life knows about the hobby but can withdraw any amount of money I like, book any tickets I want. Take some basic precautions but apart from that, fairly straight forward.

Offline NickyBobby

If you’re worried about your partner spotting unusual cash machine transactions on bank statements in the day of your trip then your best option is to withdraw the money before you go. I would split the money into two envelopes and store in separate locations so you’re not flashing a wad of notes in the first SPs face leading her to temptation when you’re in the shower

Not sure what you’d need a credit card for, I think you can still buy an Oyster card to get out with cash from the customer service desks at the main stations but I could be wrong

Obviously take both phones just in case you need to be called back from your “business trip”

Offline Davey80

I quite often take both phones to a punt with my main one switched off well in advance which feels pretty low risk to me.

If I’m driving then all personally identifiable things like my wallet with bank cards are stowed safely in the car beforehand.

If on public transport and I need a bank card then my main phone has a couple of accounts stored for contactless so no need for a physical card with my name on it.

I think a lot of stations no longer have lockers or luggage storage as they made nice places terrorists to plant bombs, which is the same reason you don't find many bins in railway stations any more.

When I've done a punting day I usually drive or train it in buying the tickets and parking in advance so I have less stress and risk of ticket machine foul ups. I use Parkopedia to find a discreet and safe parking spot. I carry punting phone with a card on it, one debit card, cash for all the bookings just in case there are cash machine issues.

If I drive in then I carry a small bottle of mouthwash, can of deodorant and some wet wipes. I use my car as a base for the day and I plan in food and rest breaks. I usually park somewhere where there's a bit of outdoor space to sit and eat and ideally in the middle of the bookings. I have found that having to drive within the city to get to different locations can add stress to get to bookings on time, so I've found it is best to park in one place and walk between locations as the travel time is more predictable.

Definitely too complex for me. 😂

Still for all those who have to take precautions.

Think of these things.

Parked cars get broken into.
Cars get stolen.
We (punters) sometimes have accidents……. Like being knocked over crossing the road in Chelsea.

When the police/hospital staff do eventually find out who you are (cos you have no identification on you)
Your partner (oh so distraught) still asks you what you were doing on the kings road when you had told her you were attending a business meeting in Luton (of all places)
 :D

You make some excellent points here. As I often repeat for those with things they’d rather the world didn’t know…

ALWAYS have an excuse to be where you are… no matter how flimsy that may be. Something is better than nothing.

I may be being a little flippant with regard to my fellow punters worries and concerns. We are all in different situations and of course need to take the precautions we personally feel are required.

But in this hobby there is always the unknown that is out there.
I doubt if any of us have gone through life where everything has been straightforward.

I had a punting day out last year. Very unexpected day as it was a last minute thing. Drove down to Stoke on Trent and visited Boudoir Babes , had a 30 minute session there. Then drove to my business appointment which took until about 5 pm .
On my way back up north I fancied another punt so I called in at Ladybirds in Manchester for a 45 minute punt.
My point is overthinking about this can drive you crazy, keep it simple maybe try parlours or concentrate on a single punt which you really look forward to and then if you are still horny try and set up something else on the fly.

Just don't try to pack too much into the day. The mind may be willing, but your body may not co-operate especially towards the end of the day.

Something else to worry about innit 😂

Have some of us arranged a second or even third punt into our day and then just couldn’t be in the mood as the day progressed ?

As I’ve got older I am definitely just a one pop guy (nearly all the time) so it’s not something that’s ever going to concern me.
If I have a punting day out (as opposed to just a quick pop in)
I usually am into nice car drives or a train ride. Leisurely lunches and good pubs play their part in the day.
Not just the shag 😂😂😂

Likewise, two in a day is all I can manage nowdays. One in the morning and one late afternoon or evening.  In my early punting days I could quite often manage 3 in a day, morning, afternoon and evening visiting 3 of Birmingham's finest massage parlours but that was when I was a horny sod and had more cash than sense  :D

And mind you don't put your back out or get sore knees from too much doggy. Also watch out for friction burns on your knees if you're doing it on the carpet.

And stay hydrated.

Lockers ok, but with luggage terriosts are a concern, but not a reason for stopping a useful service. Victoria Bus Station still has a "left luggage" counter stating "All items of left luggage will be examined using detection equipment, so you may be asked to open your bag for physical inspection." Kings Cross Station has it outsourced to someone called Excess Baggage. Suppose you just have to check they accept cash.
Lots of companies will do storage nearby stations which you can look for online, but finding specifically a locker service is harder.

No need for a card to buy an oyster or a train ticket.

cheers fellas for the replies.

Yeah, maybe I'm over thinking it, but I tend to run my punts according to the 'basic safety precautions' section of the punting wiki. Its not about digital footprint as such, more about not having anything valuable or identifying on my person when going into a strangers place for a punt.

Think I'll stick to semi-local locations and forget further afield, london day trips etc.

Respect your own risk assessment but personally I’d love the option of London day trips and the delights of Diva and the oriental agencies which I’m now restricted to for work trips only about 5 or 6 times a year post-covid.

It’s increasingly a punting desert up in Scotland barring Brazilian tourers with those ridiculously enhanced bubble butts and fake bolt on tits.

1. Buy an anal cash stash capsule and attach it to a string of love beads.
2. Fill it with £20 notes and shove it up your arse.*
3. Go to your first punt.
4. Whilst in the vinegar strokes, get the SP to yank it out of your nipsy.

Hey presto, you've got your money ready for your second punt!

*Don't forget the lube!

Online Jonestown

Millions of people go about their business in London everyday and nothing untoward happens to 99.99% of them, dress down, be alert and don't punt in bad areas. The everyday things that befall people can happen anywhere, not just in London.

Offline pantywetter

Basically you turn up, have a punt, have lunch, then have another punt.

Not sure it needs to be any more complex than that?

Maybe it’s good practice to not have a wallet or extra cash, but I’ve taken my wallet to 500+ London punts and nothing has ever happened.  At most maybe I’ll take it into the bathroom with me if it even crosses my mind.

Over thinking about it for sure, London isn't (yet) like Rio favelas.

I take my wallet and cash to every London punt. Sometimes wearing an expensive watch as well.

Never had any worries about being robbed or losing wallet or cash.

I lived in London for 25 years and had, at times, as much as £10K in an inside coat pocket (car purchase). I realise bad stuff can happen but I never witnessed anything, nor heard of any nasty things from family, friends or work colleagues.

When were you last in town - in the 80s or 90s? The major London stations all have left luggage facilities and (admittedly not many) waste bins now. And free loos - what's not to like? :)

Cheers!

It's been a while.

There's still a lot of security guidance on bins

I'm guessing that the luggage stores are kept away from the main waiting areas where large numbers of people wait, so that if a bomb was placed there the casualties would be minimised and the explosion not contained.

Go to a well reviewed providers, it's unlikely you're going to get robbed so you can carry whatever you need on you.
If you insist, get cash for first punt out earlier. Carry a bank card. Get cash for second punt out later. Carry your punting phone, keep your usual phone in on you too, or don't. Also don't forget your keys!  :sarcastic:
