I don't think you're being OTT. The fact you're even asking the question shows you're uncomfortable with the situation.
In many punts, there is someone else in the house/flat either another SP, punter etc.. One early morning punt years ago, I bumped into the girl's male flatmate outside the toilet. He seemed more uncomfortable that I was though I expect he was just desperate for a piss.

Only you can answer what action would make you feel more comfortable. If it's the thought that you're encroaching on some other bloke's space then you should consider the bigger picturel. For example, even if he does go out, are you OK seeing his shoes in the lobby or his toothbrush in the bathroom? Personally I don't think it's unreasonable if she asks her hubby to leave for an hour or so, nor is it unreasonable that he's close by for her security.
