The country with the highest per capita consumption of tea by a very substantial margin is Turkey (3.i6 kg p.a). ireland and the UK lie 2nd and 3rd.

Surprised me. Never been there and thought of them as being primarily coffee drinkers but  evidently not.

Allegedly ( and I cannot verify) it is so Americans can wear ties with seemingly regimental colours in the stripes  without risk of being accused  of wearing something  to which  they are not entitled.

Alligators don't die from old age. They either die from disease or, more usually,  starvation, because  they never stop growing. Eventually  they become so large that they cannot eat enough to sustain their body mass.

nobody dies directly from old age. You die because the longer you live, the greater the chance of falling ill. For example cancer increases with age but old age does not cause cancer.  :unknown:

Exactly,  if you couldn't die of old age you'd live forever if you were healthy .  :unknown:

So why does  the late Queens death certificate give "old age " as her cause of death?

as I am not the doctor or medical profession who saw to the queen then I can't answer that.

the link here -

states -"People don't die of old age. Instead, as people age they become more vulnerable to disease and health conditions that a younger person may be able to survive. These unavoidable changes in the body lower a person's intrinsic capacity, which makes them more likely to have a serious problem if they get a disease"

So why does  the late Queens death certificate give "old age " as her cause of death?

Whilst Old age or Natural causes may be entered as the main cause of death on a certificate (for over 80s only) it is frowned upon especially in the post Shipman era.

If it is entered it needs to be backed up with further contributory causes. The Coroner will not normally accept a death certificate without this.

Which brings us to the Queen. It would appear all parties agreed (Medical/Coroner/family) to accept just 'old age' undoubtedly for privacy reasons.

Privileged etc ...

Today is the spring Equinox - but that does NOT mean equal hours of day and night that happened 4 days ago on March 16th on the Equilux - but as Michael Caine said not many people know that !

The anomaly arises because Sunrise is officially when half the sun is above the horizon - even though we may have already had a few minutes of light and the diffraction  by the atmosphere adds a bit more

At the Equinox the sun rises due East and sets due west (everywhere outside on the Artic and Antarctic circles)

Likewise, I rember Nina Carter and Jilly Johnson as particular favourites. Also Debee Ashby from my home city  who caused a bit of an uproar at the time as she appeared on Page 3 at the age of 16, then went on to appear in soft core porn magazines like Mayfair and Men Only . Was said that she also dated former Status Quo guitarist Rick Parfit and American Hollywood legend Tony Curtis.
She also did a topless photo shoot for Page 3 with her mum

If you don't expect to live until 2090 (!) and live in the South for the next UK one then Spain will have two - in 2026 and 2027.

It's a remarkable coincidence that the Sun is 400 times bigger than the moon but also 400 times the distance from the earth so when you get a full solar eclipse the moon covers the sun completely.

only now - the moon used to be a lot closer and is slowly moving away so see an eclipse while you can !
