Separate punting phone

Hi guys, just wondering about a separate punting phone which it seems a lot of you have.
My question is presumably they're payg but doesn't your credit run out?
It's been years since i've had a payg phone but i do remember the credit expiring and as i only do this rarely, was wondering how i'd get around that?

All I have to do is send one text message every three months to stop the credit wiping out - not too onerous.

Watch out for payg they tend to spam messages that fill up the really cheap phones.
