Sorry gents, not strictly punt related but i need a little help with tineye / reverse images.  I'm looking at a girls profile on viva street and want to check if she's genuine.  Problem is, every search i do on tineye comes back with 0 results, even when i try completely unrelated pictures.

Guess i'm doing something wrong so if there's any experts out there i'd appreciate a few pointers.

Ps. using iPhone only.

Could you post the vivastreet link here?

You're not necessarily doing anything wrong.

Tineye shows up photographs that have been used elsewhere on the internet, so provide an indication of fake profiles (when they do show positive results).

When Tineye shows 0 results, this may indicate a genuine profile, but is no guarantee - it just means that Tineye hasn't detected the same photograph on the internet.

In general, the advice would be to assume that Tineye results producing more than 1 positive result should be assumed to be fake (though there have been exceptions), and that 0 results indicate that profiles are more likely to be genuine (though again, there are likely to be exceptions).

The BEST advice is to check with UKP.

Recently I have been gathering research in how to beat the system of Tineye and Google image search for my own purposes in beating scams. After a couple hours attempts of tinkering images and trying to find a solution I found one.

To beat google image search and tin eye all you need to do is mirror flip the image. Try it. Get a picture with results on tineye and google image search on the internet and mirror flip the image. You will find that your results get 0 on both google and tin eye. If you find an odd looking image that is on its side and looks suspect this is why they have done it - to beat the search.

When searching for pictures on these platforms via escort profiles - always mirror flip the image on a second attempt and do a re-search. You might be astounded to find that these scammers have been smart to beat the system.

Here is a trick that people use to beat google image search and tin eye:

They mirror flip the image. Try it. Get the most popular picture on the internet and mirror flip the image. You will find that your results get 0 on both google and tin eye.

When searching for pictures on these platforms - always mirror flip the image on a second attempt.

Thanks for the tip, Ben.

I've tried random pictures which are all over the net so would have thought it would bring something up.

Basically i'm saving a picture from a profile into "my photos" and uploading it to the box on tineye.  Would copying the url work better / differently?

Hi Rebreb.  Use the hyperlink to the pic. To get this press CTRL+U on your keyboard and find the *******.jpg in the code. This isn't always easy as there can be a lot of code. Copy and paste the link into Tineye. I can't test the URL that you provided as I'm at work at the mo, but will have a look tonight if I get chance. Hope this helps.

Okay, so there are 3 pics on the advert.  CTRL+U to bring up the html and then CTRL+F for ".jpg" brings up:

External Link/Members Only

External Link/Members Only

and

External Link/Members Only

Paste those into Tineye URL search and you get nothing - which is potentially good!

Paste them into Google Image search and for the first link you do get a few crawled links.  They are all Vivastreet ads and a cursory look suggests that the ads are no longer active.  Meaning, possibly, that the advertiser used to work in the Warrington area and has now moved to the Nottingham area.

There's still a lot of guesswork of course so I'm not going to recommend but there's no red flags as far as I can see.

I have always understood from comments made that Google Images is a more effective search than Tineye although both of course can work.
