Fair dues.
When I've been, it's usually 6 weeks at a time minimum so being charged as a tourist isn't my thing. It's would rack up a fair bit extra over that time span.
Out there you'll aways get charged based on a number of factors.
Perceived knowledge of the meat market
How long/many times you've been there
Where your staying/job
Level of bahasa.
You even pay more for a hotel room than a local and less than an Arab.
Have a good one.
Thank you for your pearls of wisdom, Sahib.
However, granny and sucking eggs does rather spring to mind for some reason.
I take it you think that I'm a newbie because I don't beat the girls down on what I consider to be a perfectly reasonable asking rate?
To me, money is not the object but quality and level of service is so I often might be thought to overpay in the eyes of more tight fisted, backpacking, cheap charlies.
Btw, I'll be 7 months on the road this trip, 4 weeks in Indonesia and 4 weeks in Philippines where I previously lived for many years. So, although I have no objection being termed as such, why am I the tourist and what are you?
