I am flying into NYC in mid May and meeting up with a friend who is working in the US (West Coast) for a long weekend.

NY is a tough place to play for American travelers and for first timers from overseas. But it is the capitol of the world so everything is available if you dig.And its not cheap. Figure $300- $400 for escort and the low range of that for full service in call AMP parlors

Not tried in NYC, but in two other cities, I got numbers from girls in lap dance clubs.  One came to my hotel after closing (got to my hotel at 2AM).  The other came to my hotel the day after we met in the bar.  Have to be very careful, clearly.  The cost was not crazy ($300? ... and this was some time back when most punts in the UK were £120 or so).  Ha ha if I were to do this today, I'd print cards with my punting name and punting number on them so I can pass secretly.  As folks have said many times, USA is never going to be a bargain since the escorts risk being arrested.

Had some experience in a different part of the NE USA. One thing to bear in mind is that 'Cities' in the US are more like councils here (as if we had the city of Hackney), each has their own Police force and will have their own priorities.
I started looking on Seeking.com and found someone who seemed like a good match, before we had a chance to meet to subject of fees came up, I offered $250 and they said no way. In retrospect it would ave been a good idea to be more open to negotiation. This is my only experience using seeking so others may be more successful.
Lots of ads in sites like Backpages, (un)surprisingly if you contact most of them they are in the same zipcode as you and keen to meet up as soon as you have paid their deposit by cash transfer or ebay vouchers. Obviously a scam. It's possible that some are real, but very difficult to find out which.

When I walked in the reviewed parlor the girl was immediately very touchy-feely (as was I) and when I got in the room and she asked me what I wanted I produced a condom. She asked how much and I said $200, she said plus house fee. I assumed it would be her, but she went away and another (younger) girl came in and stripped off. I had a lot of fun, but not a lot of massaging, and left a very happy man. I enjoyed myself so much I decided to go back the next day. When I turned the corner to the street the parlor was on I noticed a police car parked outside, and another one just round the corner. I just walked on past. Bearing in mind that paying for sex in the USA is a criminal offence (2 1/2 y in the state I was in) I think I had a very lucky escape.

Just echoing the thread really - seeking.com is a pain in the ass due to the legwork, and filtering required but you can still strike gold occasionally. Rubmaps (you don’t need to subscribe) and google for AMPs - them being listed and having less than a five star rating is usually a good marker!

Probably not very useful info, but I did end up in NYC for a few days on business. I didn't manage to punt due to a combination of lack of free time and just how many time wasters / scams / misrepresentations I came across on eros. I messaged about 20 girls, discounted any that were quoting >$800 per hour or wouldn't do a video call to verify, which left me with 2. After doing a short video call it was clear that neither looked like their photos and wanted $800 for 1 hours plus an uber to my hotel. Given they would not confirm services I abandoned my efforts and saved the cash for back home.

I also thought I'd try a few bars as I really enjoy the thrill of picking up bar girls on business trips. Only one in mid-town that had any working girls was the King Cole bar. There were about five hot Eastern Europeans, but they were already engaged in chatting up guys. The bar itself is very small and was packed when I went there so I didn't get the chance to speak to any of them even when they struck out with their targets. It's also very indiscreet and you could hear the tables full of civvies making comments about the pretty young things chatting up older guys, which does kind of kill the mood.

If I were to do it again I would also try Tryst and try and message a few girls before I arrived so I didn't waste hours on dead ends. I'd probably also stay somewhere other than mid-town, which seemed quite lacking in the kind of places you can meet working girls.
