Author Topic: Ages on Adult Work  (Read 6536 times)

For the benefit of anyone who may find this of faint interest, I've returned to my statistical endeavours and done a survey of the ages of all British "new arrivals" on Adult Work in Hampshire since the start of the year.

As well as not including foreigners – most of whom are, in any case, just passing through – I've omitted a few British girls who are offering only massage, and two girls who don't give their age.  That leaves 18 British newbies over a period of almost three months.

Here are the age ranges:
21-25 – 2
26-30 – 5
31-35 – 7
36-40 – 2
40-45 – 1
46-50 – 1

I've just done the same search to cover the period 26 March to 22 July.

There have been 25 British newbies in Hampshire over these past four months. Here are the age ranges:
21-25 – 1
26-30 – 9 (5 of these give their age as exactly 30)
31-35 – 6
36-40 – 2
40-45 – 4
46-55 – 0
56-65 – 3

More starkly, in the ten-year age range 18-27 there has been just one new girl in Hampshire during the past four months. And that girl, english_abbixx (External Link/Members Only), is a member of the Absolutely British group – a fact that does not inspire total confidence.

All this is further evidence of the migration of la jeunesse away from Adult Work to sugar daddy sites and sites such as Only Fans – and to "freelance" webcamming and photo-selling – which has been discussed on various UKP threads over the last few years.

It's really no great surprise is it? There are several things contributing to the drop in young starters but to some extent you're looking in the wrong direction.
First over the last 20-30 years there have been massive advances in female education in the UK, to the point where girls can expect to go to university or a profession with equal earning power as a boy. The days of leaving school at 16, then working in a shop until getting pregnant are gone. Girls nowadays have access to real jobs.
Second the modern ubiquity of IT simply means girls who want to sell sex can  do it online with no direct personal contact. Why fuck a bloke when you can get him to wank in front of a screen? But even then, if you look closely most of the online cam girls are based in developing countries: I believe Columbia has the highest number, many of them forced into it by gangs.
Third you have the apparent growth in the sugarbabes sites, but are they real? In the UK it's evident that with one exception they're all rope-a-dope scams with the "girls" actually being computer bots. The one exception, Seeking, clearly has some real contacts but of those, few are interested in sex work.
But lastly you're missing a key point. There is low recruitment to Adultwork because they've made it too fucking difficult for the girls to enrol. AW are increasingly enforcing verification / authentication on sex workers, insisting on passports / driving licences / bank details - and the girls are refusing. That's partly why the number of foreign profiles on Vivastreet are soaring, more or less tripled in the last three years - and most of those are under 30. There's not so many UK girls on VS but that brings me back to point (1): they're mainly able to get real jobs now so they don't need sex work

Parts of your analysis I find persuasive; others less so.

Where we are in agreement is that, as you put it, “the modern ubiquity of IT simply means girls who want to sell sex can do it online with no direct personal contact”.  Or, as I put it, “All this is further evidence of the migration of la jeunesse away from Adult Work to … sites such as Only Fans and to 'freelance' webcamming and photo-selling.”

That I think remains the central issue.  The Covid epidemic may have accelerated that tendency.

An interesting point you make – and one I have not previously seen mentioned on UKP – is that there is low recruitment to Adult Work because the site has made it so difficult for girls to enrol.  I think that may be a factor, but I suspect a fairly minor one.  Where there’s a will, there’s a way.

Where I disagree with you is when you write this: “Over the last 20-30 years there have been massive advances in female education in the UK, to the point where girls can expect to go to university or a profession with equal earning power as a boy. The days of leaving school at 16, then working in a shop until getting pregnant are gone. Girls nowadays have access to real jobs.”

The era when girls' career options were to be housewives, secretaries, waitresses or (in a very small percentage of cases) whores – if such an era ever truly existed – was sixty to seventy years ago.  Females have increasingly been having access to “real jobs” for half a century, while Adult Work has been a power in the land for less than twenty years.  I do not find convincing the implication that in the 1980s and 1990s being a hooker was one of the few things a girl could do to earn a living.

In any case, the decline in young (18-25) British women advertising themselves on Adult Work has been over the past half-a-dozen years or so – and, above all, over the last three or four.  And I am sure it primarily relates, as I indicated at the start of this post, to the point where we are in accord.

The brief golden age of prostitution was, in my opinion, roughly between 2005 and 2015.  Between new technology (and specifically Adult Work) making it extraordinarily easy for men and girls to get together on a sex-for-money basis and other forms of new technology then providing different options.  If young women are still willing to have "real-world" sex for money, it is mainly through sugar daddy sites – although only a minority of those who sign up for such sites are serious players – and through “freelancing” (conversations struck up on sites such as Instagram and so on).

In an idle moment, I've done some more statistical analysis – this time searching on Adult Work for escorts in two medium-to-large towns on my patch, Gosport and Havant.

My reason for choosing these two, rather than Portsmouth, is that foreign escorts and scammers are less likely to clutter up the search results in secondary locations such as these.  So it's easier to get "clean" results for English escorts.

At 4.50 pm today, searching just on the town in question (thus, not including "South-east" or "Hampshire") – and omitting escorts for whom Gosport or Havant is not the first location given – these are my results in terms of age:
Gosport
41 / 51 / 41 / 52 / 30 / 31 /21 / 38 / 47 / 47 / 42 / 40 / 57 / 40 / 52 / 55 / 41
Havant
34 / 53 / 32 / 34 / 44 / 36 / 34 / 51 / 30 / 31 / 40 / 39

These figures break down as follows:
Under 30 – 1
30-39 – 11
40—49 – 10
50-59 – 7

Of course, it works both ways……I apply the -5 rule to my age. If I mention 70, I find they have a vision of old man Steptoe and/or there is a little worry about resuscitation.

I take 10 years of my age but thinking I need to make that 20! :D :D

Take 10 years of your own age and add10 years to the service providers age to balance it up sounds about right

What these figures unequivocally demonstrate is that escorting in general – and Adult Work in particular – are no longer a “cool” or attractive option for la jeunesse.

Meanwhile, UKP threads about Seeking tell us much about the state of play these days as far as the game is concerned.

There are, it would appear, some females on Seeking who are prostitutes in all but name, but they are a minority.  Genuine sugar-babing – although obviously a close cousin of prostitution – has a different dynamic, not least because sugar babes are inevitably going to be much more selective than standard prostitutes are.  If you're old, obese, ugly and charmless, your chances of scoring with a sugar babe will not be high.

Returning to my "survey" of yesterday, I would surmise that a significant proportion of the women in their forties and fifties on Adult Work are not career prostitutes but single women who find it difficult to get bedroom activity through civilian channels and turn to AW to try to escape from the boredom of sexless lives.

In summary, my view – not, I know, universally shared on this site – is that the oldest profession is on its last legs, certainly as far as young British women are concerned.

Others may opine that Gosport and Havant (and Hampshire in general) are untypical, and that Wigan, Loughborough, Lossiemouth and Wrexham are stuffed full of nubile young lovelies who can't wait to do tricks for ready cash.

However the evidence of a general decline over the last decade or so is clear and unambiguous – and in my view that decline is irreversible.

... you also only have to look on X (formally known as twitter) to see many young escorts adverting themselves there. Camille and others are on there! The reach can be global and if you are good looking and young you can easily build up a following and the FMTY guys will ensure you can make a good living if you are at the top of your game. You only need to see Camille's (and others) accounts to see how they are living. This is a small % obviously, but the opportunities are 100% there to take advantage of, if you are good.

There are so many 'other' (as you say also including SA and other SD/SB sites) less traditional channels that can be used nowadays.

I also think you need to factor in that AW isn't free for escorts, whereas other channels are.

Perhaps younger women on the game indeed now use other cooler and more trendy platforms.  Sadly, however, at the risk of sounding dinosauric, for me X / Twitter is remote and mysterious territory into which I have never ventured.  There be dragons.

Incidentally Adult Work is just as free for escorts as for punters – other than that they have to pay £1-00 a day if they want to display a telephone number.

Sorry I thought have been explicit, it is free, but it can cost them if they want to 'promote' themselves by as you say listing their tel # or in addition for using functionality like 'available today'.

So you are correct... in the main... it is free

Thanks to ViceAdmiral for all of his work on this.

I do wonder about a conclusion, I just think things are a lot more compartmentalised now. What conclusion I would draw from the most recent data trawl is that AW is becoming the domain of choice for Milfs and Milf hunters.

Jsut like some shops or bars will have a certain vibe so will websites. It's the same for dating apps, the clientele on Plenty of Fish will be different to Hinge.

I don't routinely search for girls in their 20s per se so wouldn't have noticed the dearth of, or change in dynamic in this area.

I think you've hit the nail on the head.  Adult Work is now Milf City.  Indeed there's a strong case to be made for AW to change its domain name to External Link/Members Only or something similar.

Postscript (a couple of minutes later)
I don't believe it!  I've just clicked on the link that I thought I'd invented – and a website with precisely that name already exists!
