I joined the ‘fuck it’ brigade when the government failed to condemn the BLM protests. They condemned the rioting and violence but kept very quiet on criticising the fact tens of thousands of protesters were stood shoulder to shoulder all over cities for days on end.

It seems being politically correct and not losing votes is more important than the COVID rules, so any corona virus guidelines can now be ignored as far as I’m concerned  :unknown:

Obviously you didn't see Priti Patel's statement condemning the BLM march then? It was much more of a political reality as the government isn't in a good spot at the moment and they didn't want an escalation of violence or to potentially turn it into a race riot. Imagine the government having to deal with COVID, Brexit and Race Riots at the same time?

As much as we saw a spike in cases in Leicester East with the BAME community, the internal memo stating we were experiencing a spike came the day 'before' the BLM marches. While I do think the marches will have some affect on infection rates, the whole scene at the beaches and parks a few weeks prior when things were first eased and the whole Dominic Cummings fiasco likely had a far bigger effect!

And many of these selfish idiots will be the same people that were 'clapping for our carers' at Thursday night's 8pm ritual a few weeks ago. Jee-eezus!
Bournemouth beach and the Jurassic coast was just the same as well.
Cummings and those Minneapolis cops have a lot to answer for.
Absolutely mind boggling and unbelievable!  :bomb:

Back into lockdown in about 3 weeks time if people act as though it is all over. It most certainly isn't.

Beggars belief doesnt it. They will have to block access to local beaches at these resorts as the public cant be trusted to do the right thing

Worth noting that outside in hot weather is relatively safe (not safe but safer than many other situations) as it appears the virus does not transmit easily in the heat.  Also the sea breeze means people not breathing in the same air for a period of time.

Whilst not ideal it is better than people socialising together in each other's houses.

Not defending them.

Ah the old camera angle trick, makes it looked more packed then it is at that angle. A birds eye view would show more gaps in between groups. But still, for this current climate, still too busy looking for my liking.

So according to the media, protesting shoulder to shoulder with thousands of others is ok but going to the beach makes you the worst scum on the planet...  :unknown:

The media has been fairly consistent (in my experience) in raising and talking about the social distancing issues with BLM.

In my opinion Economics now dictate the situation, the country cannot afford another Lock Down so the Government will sacrifice lives for fiscal stability.
Harsh as it sounds the number of people who have died would not fil most Premier League Grounds.
We are entering Survival of the Fittest.

Don’t get me wrong, there have been a few, watered down reports regarding social distancing & BLM protests. But the people on the beach have been hammered and made out to be monsters.

The level of reporting is definitely skewed..

Generally many at BLM have masks and are attempting social distancing so that is reflected in the coverage. Equally I heard yesterday on the media an analysis of why the beach situation was not that bad. I think people with an agenda see bias where it does not exist.

You're joking right?? Threyre not wearing masks from fear of the virus, protecting themselves or others from the virus - it is to conceal their identity. Protests are videoed by the police, images captured and stored - thats why theyre wearing masks.

As for attempting social distancing - please.... no... just no.... just look at them walking shoulder to shoulder down the streets, packing squares and parks. Yes there have been occasionally staged photos showing them with outstretched arms trying to portray that they're keeping distance but thats all it is - staged.

I am not going to engage, we do not need another BLM thread.

As I say people with an agenda often interpret the media an particular way.

No we don't. And Admin is likely to ban anyone that does as well. Way too controversial. :hi:

Exactly this. But sadly everyone has an agenda nowadays. I’ve made the decision to avoid the media as much as humanly possible from now on. The level of bias and scaremongering is disgusting  :dash:

Yes indeed, most protests have a team specifically to video and gather evidence for later use.

A police officer I know told me that you're not going to be able to safely arrest people for criminal damage during a mass demonstration. A lot better just to gather all the evidence and facial recognition tech etc, then pay them a visit individually at home at 4am with the "big red key"

i think if you're already shagging about in Leicester, you can just as well continue.  these won't be additional difficulties for you to face; rather a delay on the loosening of the existing restrictions.
