Got a few quick questions about this place please - External Link/Members Only (I have seen SpaceRaiderDave's review, which is encouraging  ). I'm in London for a day next week and looking to utilise some free time... So the questions:

1 - Would this be the same people that used to be in Camden, that I went to about 7 or 8 years ago? I think much longer ago than that, I went to one near Earls Court too and from memory, they both used to be called the Limelight Club?
2 - Are they usually a sell out? I'm happy to call early on the day, but don't want to email booking forms etc
3 - Are there any other such places in London (within tube zones 1&2) that are good and worth a visit, if I can't get a space at Phoenix when I'm free?

I don't remember them being called Limelight. They were originally called Lady Marmalade Parties (LMP). When I first heard of it they were in Blackfriars, then Paddington basin, Marylebone, Lancaster Gate, Paddington area. Now Barons Court I understand.

I don't know if they're hard to get in these days. The ratio is low at 2:1. Other parties, when there were some, were much higher ratio.

These are the only regular ones there have been in London that I know of. Others have withered away. They are well organized from what I remember. I've been to many 2006 to about 2015. Seen many 'famous porn faces' there. Sacred Rose was the other I used to frequent (City and then Earls Court).

They will only confirm a place at 9am or later on the day of the party. I've never had a problem ringing between 9am and 10am but that isn't guaranteed. there's nothing else in Central London to match the quality and reliability of Phoenix. If you were worried about getting a place ring the day before and explain to Emms you want to reserve your place for the next day and will ring again the following day to confirm
