As others have said, if the SP has given a procedure to follow, do what she's asked.  If it's a bit unclear or it's unsure I typically always text in the morning to confirm just so they know I'm still going to see them and that I will drop them another text when I arrive.  I don't always expect a response to my confirmation text, but most of the time I do get one.

I then typically text or call when I arrive (whatever the SP has asked for) - no earlier than 5 minutes before my booking start time - and await being given further instructions.

It’s still early in the day. Like you I am no technology expert, but if both devices are used in the same location/same WiFi then I think they would have the same ip address?
