Camera recommendations for filming

Just looking for your thoughts on the best camera to use for consented filming. Off to Thailand in new year and looking to keep a few "souvenirs".
DSLR a bit bulky ? Don't want to spend more than £100-150. New or second hand , thoughts appreciated. What works for you ? Thanks.

A decent modern mobile smartphone with good memory and a clip attached to a mini-tripod or gorilla pod would work well.

I've also used a External Link/Members Only for hand held video work which would work well, but your budget needs stretching a little.

I’d recommend getting some truly cinematic shots using backwards panning on a DJI Mavic Air in 4K

I started a thread about spy cams. Just to see what everyone’s reaction would be. Anyway. I went today to my usual haunt and saw the same lady who normally is really happy etc and today she was really grumpy. Turns out one of her first customers had been filming her. It’s a shop and she says he was adamant to do full service which she doesn’t do. Offering her huge money. When she turned the lights on she noticed his phone peering out of his shoe. No relevance at all but shows some people are in to that. Swing her reaction it’s definitely not something I would like to get involved in. She has him on cctv and the police are being notified. It happened in Andover so if he is reading this then about now his arse will have dropped

Why consented filmjng is crucial - a tripod is obvious for the SP and to get decent shots you really do need some light.

However since the OP is on the sniff in Thailand,  I can't see the results being that impressive.

But hey, who knows, it might be on pornhub next month and he'll be back here showing off his new Ferrari.

Not looking to publish images just for "personal use". Hadn't considered a second hand mobile phone on one of those tripods but that could well be the answer. Current punting phone is just a "brick" from supermarket. Cheers.

Filming with a DSLR has one major problem. The auto focus makes a very annoying sound with even a small change in the subject. I read that a separate mic can help but its something that I've not tried. 

You can buy silent lenses for DSLR which will add to your overall costs.

What is the difference between a USM lens and a STM lens?

USM stands for Ultrasonic Motor, while STM stands for Stepper Motor. ... By comparison, the STM lenses really are almost silent, as they were built with video in mind — rodents need not apply. Their focus speed, while a tiny bit slower, is also better suited for video as it's smoother and less “jarring.”

Panasonic Lumix TZ-30 onwards (later models are larger though). A true pocket camera with a good zoom, 1080 HD and stereo recording for all those grunts and groans .

i think vivago uses a sony rx something (theres a ton of confusing rx models now...)

1" (not actually 1" size sensor, relates to some bygone standard, but pretty big for a compact camera) and its popular with vloggers. most/all premium compact 1" sensor size cameras use a sony sensor.

you will need spare batteries, as compact camera's (and mirrorless/any camera doing video) will eat battery pretty quick.

Camera; make sure you can switch off the screen and go to v'finder only while shooting.  The screen uses up the battery v quickly, usually in 20 mins or so.

I used my little Canon PowerShot a couple of times for filming punts and it worked out well. Full HD and good quality sound from a genuinely compact camera, though the sound is mono only. So if you have a threesome the sound of two girls licking either side of your shaft will merge into one. 

My original model is now out of date but this SX620 HS is the slightly updated version and you can get it for around £160:

some evf's drink more battery than the rear screen, but its probably pretty similer for most camera's i would of thought. i got sony a77ii, so the evf is pretty darn good in that, while the compact rx etc ive tried are worse (because they are cheaper and smaller)

There are plenty of GoPro copies that would probably suit you, even from Aldi for £50.  Sports cameras such as the GoPro usually have quite a wide field of view (FoV) which might come in handy if you want to film a whole double bed from only 3 feet away.  Also anything with moving parts like a zoom lens doesnt mix well with beach sand, so the sealed aspect might come in handy as well in Thailand.  Get a bendy tripod and should be able to set it up in most situation as long as there is a shelf or some furniture

Wide angle action cams (like GoPro) can work well. Benefits:
* Very small, so less intimidating for the girl than pointing a big DSLR at her
* Very small, so easy to hold and bring with you
* Wide angle makes it easy to get your shot
* Easy to aim - When filming you want the camera fairly close to the action: within 6 inches up to 3 feet at most.
* Good quality (HD+, 60 fps, etc)
* Makes POV porn (my favorite, and the best way to relive your experience from your own perspective)
- You can use it for the rest of your trip, underwater filming too

Cons:
* Fish eye distorts proportions (tits and ass will look rounder up close, but distant objects will look really far away). You can change from wide-angle to medium and narrow modes, although I don't recommend for porn as the aim is more difficult
* No screen, so you film blindly, unless you buy one with the screen for viewing

When I film, I will get the shot that I want, then set the camera down and just enjoy myself until I want to take another shot. That way I can get the shots I want to keep, without too much distraction from the actual sex.

Please let me know how you get on, and how to negotiate filming, how much extra they tend to charge for it. I'd like to get some souvenirs as well when I eventually go.

i think if your doing pov, then the 7 or 8 series gopro have that smooth motion stabilizer thing, which will help a ton, as us humans actually move much more like a squirrel (jerky movements) than you think.

also 2x memory cards would be good, so u have a "holiday one" and a "ploughing hotties" one

for this hobby its probably not great, slightly tighter angle than a phone camera (normally 28mm equivilent, this is 32mm) and the 42x zoom is un needed in a hotel room , and large zooms tend to make the lens slow, which isnt good for low light

theres some small ones that can double as a hand grip when the legs are closed , jobi bendy socket legs or manfrotto pixi style. the weight of camera needs to be quite central to the tripod socket with these little tripods or they will be a utter pain (or use a light camera)

i actually have a decentish carbon fibre tripod and that does take quite abit of room in a suitcase. if u get a "proper" one go for arca swiss style tripod plate, its the best type.

Tripod will depend upon what your camera weighs and what functions you want. If you want to try a cheap one that can be used with vidcam or phone look at this:-

It is reasonable - maybe a bit flimsie - but light, compact and comes with a mobile phone adapter and cheap (£7) and can be collected from local argos.

While the GoPro is perfect for POV shots, there are a couple of shots that I don't think I can get with it. For example, two of my favourite shots are below. Maybe I could get that shot with a GoPro selfie stick, but it wouldn't be stable and I'll only have one free hand. And a tripod on the bed won't be stable. I know this group uses a camera on a tripod, non-fish eye with zoom due to distance. And they have a live feed to a TV that they can see as a viewfinder to make sure the shot looks right.

Just use your phone and get a regular holder for it

Nice video, but I think that lack of lighting is creating a lot of grain, likely due to the camera cranking up the gain compensate. If you could add some lighting, like a External Link/Members Only, that would literally make your video 100x better. The framing of your subject was perfect, though I'm not sure how well it would work for POV sex.

I was thinking about getting the Sony A7SII for normal photography/filming. Looks to take passably professional level videos. It's a bit expensive, but since you're shelling out major cash to film, it makes sense to have a high quality video.
