I'm forever reading how men are supposed to be more 'visually orientated' when it comes to wanting sex. All sorts of Darwinian reasons as well. But explain this.

Some women, I only have to see them and every cell of my body is screaming at me to shag them. But, providing they're not physically repulsive to me, it isn't dependent on looks. Florence of Florence and the Machine - if I hated her music I'm sure it would be different. But I see her and (except when she is singing very badly out of tune, the words PURE SHAG light up in my brain like a neon sign. And yet in terms of physical attractiveness (compared to Jeri Ryan, who I'd probably describe as stunningly attractive.) I'd say she's probably just pretty nice.

Now if I met her, I'm sure I would focus on what drives her creativity and want to talk to her about that. It doesn't turn me into an 'animal' or anything. But it is just something that brings out the mating instinct. Going back to a post someone else made, "7 of 9" has a similar effect. I could say Jeri Ryan, but the truth is, when she is out of character she really doesn't have the same effect. She looks like any other glamorous American actress (German-born or not). Rather like Inara Serra (Morena Baccarin) who, believe it or not, I actually met (at a premiere) but was too tongue-tied to hold a conversation with (but at least I can vouch for the fact that she is stunningly beautiful close up).

If I was putting this in homogeneously PC terms rather than on a predominantly male board, I'd probably say she looks extremely 'fit' (the expression women use fro a similar reaction). But 'pure shag' is used by a lot of women as well, just usually not in male company.

Cynically, I could say I live in a fantasy world. But really, I think I am attracted to people who live out their fantasy and make it real.

As an example of pure looks, I personally find Charlize Theron holographically perfect for want of a better description. On the physical looks department, pure beauty.

For me, whilst it's usually about face, tits, ass, legs whatever, there is from time to time a female who I think,,,"fuckin hell, she's hot" but I have to think really hard for the reason why.

Hi that's getting very deep into the psychology of attraction if you read certain works on the human condition its very subliminal as you say visuals mostly can be like a magnet  but if anyone has ever noticed this , you see an incredibly fit girl and for no logical reason don't feel any attraction in fact you can feel the opposite its micro body language or whatever and a little voice in the back of your mind is telling you to be wary its what they call sixth sense

I think I am very visual - good call OP. 

I'm a leg man mainly, big fake boobs are usually a turn off as is fat. I also like the idea of taking photos of WG's and woman I fancy generally, so I guess that says something?

I also like WG's who can striptease and maybe do the equivalent of a pole dancer kind of display, or do it so amateurishly that their lack of experience becomes a turn on. The slow revealing of their sexy bodies and being able to watch is sure to get my attention and set me up for a good punt.

Punting wise it's definitely a factor for me - stating the obvious. If I look at a profile and I want to give her one - not an intellectual decision - and the photos are fairly representative - then an enjoyable punt usually follows.

Real life civvie attraction is different. Based on past experience I can't say for sure what I find attractive.

Media is different again. I don't think I've ever ached to shag any celeb, and never had a crush on one. I do think "Yeah she's nice \ she's sexy" and probably, as a teenager, I might have had to fit in a wafty crank - but that was long ago. And we're all different - Florence does nothing for me - I find her quite mannish!

Attraction isn't something you'll really know about until you get close and intimate with the girl. Plenty of times I've seen super hot girls from pics and punts but once u get down to it the physical attraction and sexual arousal isn't there

It definitely comes down to "chemistry". Hard to describe what that is but I think it's combination of looks, personality, body language , demeanour etc. 

Your sexual attraction receptors are set up in your central nervous system and are waiting to be activated upon the right stimulus and this is the thing that really matter.  And I think looks alone are not enough to predict their activation.

This is why kissing is essential for me, it can instantly tell u yes or no.  The amount of hot WG,s I've kissed and I'm like "urgh ok that's boring numb and dull let's move onto something else".  And then there's been a few that I've kissed and then it's a instant euphoric explosion in the brain and it's like Yes! Just want to snog their faces off its almost as good as the sex

For me and certainly the majority of red blooded males out there, you see a woman and you lust after her because you are attracted.  Nobody walks into a supermarket and says "wow, check our her personality".  You are attracted to her looks and if she has a good personality then you hit the jackpot.

There are instances however where I haven't been immediately attracted to a person, but after I have spoken to them (work colleagues come to mind). I find them to be quite interesting and they become a potential mate.

In my punting life, the handful of girls I have gone back to repeatedly have had this indefinable quality. They've been tall, short, blonde, brunette, busty, small-breasted - no defining physical characteristics except reasonably slim (size 8 or less). Not all have been extensively reviewed/praised on the usual forums including this one. But every time I think of them for even a second, I feel "the need, the need for speed..."

Biggest punting regret remains not being able to meet Rihanna of HOD when she worked for about a month back in Dec 2011. Originally it would go looks first, then personality.

But doing this for a few years now, I find myself finding personality more interesting now. Once you've fucked a physically beautiful woman but found she wasn't that sexually interesting it can change things.

When I was punting UK sides I often found the initial email reply would sway whether I saw a WG or not. I think each WG I saw was both pretty and actually interesting. Which then made the actual sex more fun, I mean a punt where a woman bends over the bed and lets you fuck her in silence is not my idea of a good time. I never really did the whole same day punt though, I liked to plan mine out a few days beforehand, I think that kind of thinking played into it.

Although I do like a WG to look good I find some are almost too attractive and I have trouble restraining myself for long enough to make the punt worth while.

In the real world I don't know what it is ... Its a special something that gets me going.

I lived opposite a woman once who was by any standards pug ugly but she had great shape and always dressed well. But she oozed sex on legs.

So in answer to your question yes looks do a lot to spark the initial interest but getting down and dirty it is something else.

In punting Some of my best punts have been with women who are not classically beautiful.

Looks is one thing but sex appeal is something else.

Its the business women in their power suits, the girl behind the coffee counter and the snooty confident woman in the hotel bar that get me every time. I can't, so I want!! Its just that look!!

Luckily I have found one business woman who fits the first desire, and its not just naked that she looks good. Seeing her dressed for work is equally sexy
