I don't see how UKP would be affected by this

Thought it may be an over 18 site?

Offline Happyjose

Thought it may be an over 18 site?

No idea, but there's a minimal amount of what could be termed porn on here, and my understanding is it's more to do with pornographic content

If not, then all kinds of sites are going to be affected, including gay/mental health advice sites.

Expect a shit storm when that starts to happen and our politicians to soon buckle under the pressure

Here's the link.

As UKP does not benefit commercially in any way, and less than 1/3 of the content could be deemed pornographic, then I can't see how it would apply

Fucking hell, these weirdo's in goverment really have a problem with porn and sex in general even though they're probably doing messed up stuff behind closed doors.

VPN - Virtual Private Network

Buy your own IP address which is outside of the UK
There are also loads of free vpns & proxies you can try...I'm gonna wait & see if the tubes/streams are blocked on Kodi... :unknown:

Offline Redpunter

You cannot access this site using a VPN

Quite apart from the 1/3 porn rule UKP is not a commercial site (no paid for advertising etc) so restriction will not apply.

Apparently none of the various systems will be operational until 1st July so there will only be a 2 week run in period. That should be fun.,, assumimg it happens and is not delayed again?

Apparently there may also be an option to verify by a selfie (minimum age 28)?

I don't see it either but it will be good to be reassured by the Big Man in any case.

If AW bothered to look at their records they could see me making bookings in 2008.  You'd think that would make me over 18 now!

Well if girls pass profiles on I suppose punters could too!

How would they know how old you were in 2008? If you've made a purchase with a credit card at any time you are automatically age verified, making bookings or just using the site doesn't prove age.

If you weren't age verified before you have to do it now, regardless of what has gone on in the past.

From the article
Quote

Britons who want to watch free porn online may have to prove their age using their passport in as little as eight weeks.

You couldn't make  this up, according to sky news, the government have postponed age verification, once more

The Victoria Derbyshire show had an article about this delay earlier though no reason was given for it. A porn actor/producer was for the block as he and he said other porn stars don't want their kids seeing them doing porn. SO don't do porn then, cunt.

As the campaigner against it said its for him to supervise and be responsible for what his kids access online, though I do know from my own son that's not an easy task. BUT I never expected the government to nanny state me. Some if not many ISPs already have blocks on over 18 sites as their default settings with the user having to prove they are over 18. That should be sufficient in my view.

I thought Blair and Browns governments were bad nanny staters, they have nothing on this bunch of cunts who want to nanny which I see very clearly as wanting to control as many peoples lives as they can.

SO the official line from Jeremy Wright for the government is they didn't inform the European Commission of 1 part of this shit and that will cause about a 6 month delay. He confirmed age verification WILL and MUST come in, a view backed by the Labour spokeswoman.

They can say that but the reality is once Parliament is back from recess in September the ongoing crisis that is Brexit all other Parliamentary processes and bills will be kicked into the VERY LONG GRASS!

As excuses go, "blame the EU" is pathetic. The issue is that all the previously eager id check providers have been told they cannot monetise the checks by combining it with other services such as digital wallets so they have started dragging their feet, sucking through their teeth saying "in that case it's gonna cost you" to the government who can't afford another embarrassment right now. But, yeah, blame the EU for another UK government fuck up.

Sorry, rant over...

Rant away. You are correct of course, this delay is what this is really about as a campaigner against it said this morning.

Pointless law anyway,it will effect over age users more,as who will want to send copies of their licence/passport to a porn site.Youngsters will just be pushed onto the dark web to find porn, not particularly an area of the internet you want to encourage people to use.

I wonder how much that has just cost the tax payer? Not to mention all the adult sites that had to make plans preparing for it.  :dash:

Great news although all the main parties supported this so it may come back at some time, who knows.

Nicky Morgan now the Digital Secretary announced this wont be going ahead now but porn providers will have a new duty of care whatever that means and a regulator. No idea if the regulator will be the BBFC who were going to regulate this shite.

As said above this would of cost taxpayers fuck knows how much money, bunch of money wasting cunts.

Companies like Mindgeek the US porn company and others like it who were or have developed the tools for age verification here will no doubt have the raging hump. They had Age IDUK set up to verify on and were hoping to make a packet out of companies having to pay them for their services. I hope they have wasted a lot of their money and if this shit comes back now avoid it in case it got cancelled again. I have no doubt Mindgeek would of been harvesting users information despite their shit they wouldn't do so.

Good news for now but the prudes will keep trying.
Maybe the way for them to avoid privacy and verification problems will just be to block all porn Chinese style.
Still, worth a celebratory wank tonight :)

Offline Cunning Punt

Hilarious.

OCL, one of the firms offering age verification tools, was not happy about the decision.
"It is shocking that the government has now done a U-turn and chosen not to implement [this]," said chief executive Serge Acker.
There is no legitimate reason not to implement legislation which has been on the statue books for two years and was moments away from enactment this summer."

Well apart from the fact that it's deeply flawed legislation in that it impacts upon privacy, civil liberties, open to scammers/blackmailers and wouldn't actually work.  :unknown:

Nothing like arrogant, greedy, patronising little shits who think they are going make money "hand over fist" being left frustrated.  :sarcastic:

This applies to pornography (images) not all adult content. This site may contain some pornographic images, but they do not constitute more than one third of the content. So all should be fine*?

This is another government pledge which they didn't think through and have struggled with the logistics of implementing it. Rather than just scrapping it they have finally botched a solution.

*In theory
they botch every thing they touch  HS2  5 phones  Brexit  Army procurement  MPs who are for sale to the highest bidder no parking on pavements  (get shares in  street signs,  by us the estate streets are only 2 cars wide so you will have one way streets signs every ware  i could go on for ever,  lions led by donkeys spring to mind
