External Link/Members OnlyWell, I took Tazman’s advice and ‘went to see’! I’m glad I did and I now wish I had taken his advice a long time ago (which is, of course, impossible). Anyway I had decided, having had a mediocre punt on Saturday, that I would try to end the year on a high. Incredibly, like the previous recent reviewer, Emma was really my plan ‘B’ on the day. In fact, I had been swithering generally.
I can only endorse everything he says (except about falling in love – I’m too old for her – and I didn’t get as far down as the feet, I kind of stopped midway) so no point in repeating. It’s open to each individual one to decide whether the higher fee is justified by the higher quality, but I did (then ‘I would say that’ as Mandy Rice Davies once famously quipped). A point is that when I asked for a booking Emma could only offer me something within a two-hour slot on the day, so her marketing strategy can’t be far out. I certainly thought she was in a different class. If there is such a thing as ‘excellent’, this was it and I have to say Emma is easily the most attractive girl I have ever been to bed with.
Slightly amusing end to this, just as I walked out of Emma’s block of flats I bumped into a female ex-colleague of mine who immediately asked, ‘so what brings you down this end of the town then?’ Still in a testosterone-depleted daze I stuttered something, probably highly implausible, about being in town for lunch. Shows how you can walk right into it unawares!
And so, I end the year on a high note. And part of the reason for that (as I wrote on another thread) is that I have learnt an amazing amount just from being on this site: how to spot a dodgy Ad, scams; how to snuff out the dodgy ‘first posters’; the need for a plan B and C etc. I’m grateful to the more experienced punters like Valdis, Taz, TJ, Marmalade, Auldie, (I like reading Pilgrim’s stuff too), and many others who I haven’t mentioned for passing on their experience. When I retire from punting, I’ll still be reading this. Indeed I'm sure the reason I only had one bad punt (and I walked from that) is down to the savvy I picked up on here.
I’ve learnt a lot (and I’m no youngster!), and you guys have probably saved me a fortune and illimitable embarrassment and disappointment, so compliments of the season to yiz all.
