Am about to restart punting again as the restrictions ease. Have used poppers regularly for the last ten years with no side effects beyond the usual headache at the time, and I know not to combine them with Viagra and related products, which so far I haven’t needed to take.

However I’m about to start taking Finasteride to slow my hair from thinning further. Finasteride seems to affect the vascular system, although I’m not an expert.

Does anyone informed know if it’s risky to be taking poppers on top of Finasteride, beyond the usual popper risks?

Thanks everyone :hi:

I use poppers but I wouldn’t use anything else when using them far too risky mate.

I'd ask whoever is prescribing your finasteride. If you are doing this online from Lloyd's then I think you are able to send an emailed question to be looked at by a doc.

Also there should be a leaflet in every box? I'd have a read of that.

Thanks gents. Not sure I have the nerve to ask the 20 something female trichologist.

But have checked Finasteride’s half life, which is short. It should completely clear my system in 24 hours so should be fine if I don’t take it for two days pre a punt, which is doable for me as I plan in advance.

From NHS website!//

2. Key facts

You'll usually take finasteride tablets once a day.
The main side effects are losing interest in sex and difficulty getting an erection.
Finasteride can affect the results of PSA testing (a blood test to check for prostate cancer)
This medicine gets into semen and can harm an unborn baby. Use a condom when having sex if your partner is pregnant or could get pregnant.
If you're pregnant or trying to get pregnant, do not touch crushed or broken finasteride tablets. If the tablets are broken, the medicine can pass through your skin and can harm your baby.

Maybe a bit of contraindication there! I'd ask yer doc to see how thats going to act up!..

Most importantly, the *only* clinical advice to take from UKP armchair doctors is to see a professional opinion.

Much better to be embarassed than dead....

A trichologist isn't medically trained. If you're having this at a private clinic there's probably a medic you can access for consultation.

Questions like this can't be answered in a generic way and will depend on your general health and medical history. I recommend you discuss this with a medic because your stated logic is flawed.

I've been taking finasteride for almost 5 years now and haven't noticed any side affects whatsoever, no decrease in my sex drive or problems getting an erection.

The negative sides statistically only affect an unlucky 1% of men who take it. I can't answer OP's question though as I have no experience taking poppers.

If you really want to take poppers then shave your head, either that or speak to a doctor, its not rocket science.

Why do some men worry about hair loss.

Lots of blokes with hair shave it off.
Lots of blokes with hardly any go to great lengths to cover up the loss etc.

I just don’t get it.
Thankfully we don’t see as much of the ridiculous comb overs that seemed to abound when I was a kid.

I’m not bald but my hairs always been quite thin (yes I know....... who wants fat hair) so I just keep it short.

Far more important things to worry about than losing some feckin hair.
Let’s face it. If your so body conscious as to worry about it in the first place. Then there’s obviously more psychological problems underneath.

I guess it depends on your age,I started losing my hair in my teens fucking hated it as most do.
Tried most non surgical treatments which are snake oil to be honest, then one day I had enough and shaved it all off.
Best thing I ever did ,liberating felt much better after. However I'm a handsome bastard so hair's not so important, still rather have it though.

I guess it's a condfidence thing really, alot of blokes are just as self conscious about there appearance just as much as women. Not always necessarily a bad thing unless you go to the extremes, I think we're all insecure to some extent.

I already have a full head of thick hair but I have the MPB gene (male pattern baldness)  and my dad is receding quite badly. I'd look ridiculous with a bald head especially as I don't really have the facial structure to pull it off plus I can't grow a proper beard.

That's the main reason I take it, it doesn't indefinitely stop hairloss if you're genetically prone but can slow it down by 10-20 years. Being in my mid 20's I want to keep my hair for aslong as I possibly can.

Why do people take poppers. Though it was used for gay sex?

Offline Cum_again

Very few poppers are actually amyl nitrate as I don’t think it’s legal any more.

Amyl nitrate is the one you don’t want to take with viagra. Not sure about the other ones, but I wouldn’t take any chances.

Poppers are often used by gay men as they relax the anal muscles prior to anal sex.  I’ve been given them a couple of times before a girl has fucked me with a strap on, and to be honest, they did absolutely  nothing. Made me feel a bit light headed and my face felt hot.. that was it.

What you did literally say was that all illegal drugs should be made legal.

And you refused to answer a simple question about whether dealers should be prosecuted for supplying heroin.

So perhaps rather than simply coming out with such a broad, glib statement about drugs in society, you might like to provide a little clarity on your stance. Otherwise what you say is pretty well meaningless.

Started when I was 21, I'm almost 26 so been on fin for a few years now.

Nope literally no side affects whatsoever. My hair is more thicker now and I haven't receded further since taking it, infact I think my hairline has gone slightly forward.

99% of men who take finasteride will not experience any negative sides.

Update. Spoke with a GP, who said that as Finasteride was male hormone related, and didn’t affect one’s heart, there shouldn’t be any connection between it and poppers.

That said, will try the Finasteride for a while before thinking about a popper session.

Obviously the above doesn’t constitute advice of any sort.

Just wondering why you take finasteride? I’ve been using finasteride for nearly two years after I noticed slight hair loss and it’s done wonders in making me keep a strong Norwood 1.5/2. The only problem I had was really bad libido issues in the first few months and watery semen. Last month I then hopped on Dutasteride and had the worse side effects ever - libido shot through the roof and my mind was constantly  thinking about sex 24/7. Dutasteride btw is a more potent version of finasteride. It was hell

I was also wondering if finasteride would improve my gym performance. Finasteride is known to increase test levels but at a small amount. For me, my lifts were still the same etc. When I jumped on Dutasteride for a month though, my numbers increased a bit but my hair density plummeted. I think this was because my test levels jumped whilst my DHT dumped. I also had a shit tonne of acne come up around my forehead and cheeks. Hopped back on finasteride and performing fine now. Dut is some horrible ass shit

Finasteride was proposed to me once for prostate and urinary problems.
I did some research, and my choice was to steer clear by a million miles. Dosage for this may be higher than for hair loss treatment.

Pretty much same reason, noticed my hairline was a Norwood 2 and since I have the MPB gene from my dads side I didn't want to risk going bald by the time I'm in my 30's.
I wouldn't suit a shaved head so keeping my thick full hair for aslong as possible is essential IMO.

That's interesting never tried Dutasteride but have heard it's stronger. Never experienced any libido issues with fin tbh.

What do you use the poppers for for sex?

I've been using finasteride but never really tried poppers.
I was introduced to poppers by a WG a couple of years ago during a mild domination session and have never looked back. The feeling was totally intense. Couple of people on here saying that they are dangerous but I've looked into it on the internet and am satisfied that they are pretty safe if you use them occassionally as I do.  One of the local newsagents sell them so they are obviously legal.  Of course some of the danger might come from the fact that they take away your inhibitions so you might do things that you wouldn't do if you weren't taking them but to be honest that is one of the attractions for me.
Some people also saying they don't do anything for them which is fair enough but for me they take foreplay into another dimension of pleasurableness.
If you want to take them I would say a couple of things; firstly never take them with viagra as this is dangerous and never let the liquid touch or get up your nose.  A good hard sniff in each nostril will do the trick.

Where do you get poppers from?

You can find them in any sex shop who normally have a variety of brands to choose from.  I have noticed that they can also be found for sale in some independent convenience stores/petrol stations.

I tend to order from External Link/Members Only as I prefer the products labelled as "Leather Cleaner".  IMHO, they give a smoother high, without the associated banging headache of the cheaper brands like Liquid Gold.    Delivery is fast and very discreet.
