I have one reservation about orgasm denial, and it results from a conversation when this was discussed between the junior subalterns and the M.O in an Officers Mess in Aldershot during my National Service days in 1954, and some of us practised orgasm denial then because a junior subaltern simply couldn`t walk into a local chemists shop to buy Durex and we were terrified of impregnating any co-operative WRAC.
The M.O. pointed out that the male prostate exists solely for the purpose of producing the requisite seminal fluid to convey the sperm down the urethra and the penis on ejaculation, and that consequently immediately prior to, and in readiness for, ejaculation the prostate is full to bursting with juice; if ejaculation does not then take place all this lovely juice has nowhere to go quickly and has either to leak slowly down the urethra or to be reabsorbed by the prostate. He then admitted that he had no specialist knowledge of this subject, but just wondered whether regular practising of orgasm denial could contribute to an enlarged prostate in later life.
I didn`t take much notice at the time, and carried on doing it until I married, and surprise, surprise........I had to have my greatly enlarged prostate carved up 7 years ago, so I`ve wondered many times since about whether an enlarged prostate may be partly self-inflicted.
