Author Topic: Asda mob sim card  (Read 1361 times)

Don't know if this has come up before, anyway ....

I registered a new Asda mob sim card today by phone with their help team.   They told me that if topping-up by phone using a credit/debit card, the minimum spend is £1.   Thats right, one pound.   Voice calls are then 10p a minute,  4p texts.    Minimum one use per 6 months.  Data allowance unknown but (I would think) close to non-existent.  None of this shows on their website.

So; no anonymity but it has to be the rock-bottom rate of anywhere.   Ideal for the infrequent user.

both 3 mobile and o2 have a payg sim that is only 3p a min talk and 2p a minute text, a tenner last a long time..

Unless you are absolutely sure you are "safe" NEVER register your punting phone/sim. You can't predict the future so as much as possible avoid traceabilty. Might cost you a bit more but considering the cost of our hobby an extra quid or two for a bit of extra safety is IMHO worth it.

Are you meaning a future where paying for sex is illegal?

At the moment, I only need to protect my real identity and myself from random unwanted texts from escorts at inconvenient times.

What if a WG you have been is murdered or seriously assaulted, (maybe unlikely I know)? If the offender is not known, they will come looking for you to eliminate you, or not. They would probably turn up at your house or workplace unannounced. Maybe this possibility does not give you a problem but most it would.

An extreme example, but nonetheless a valid point that I hadn't considered.

Look up '1p mobile'.  As the name says 1p per text, minute or mb data.  And as far as i know the £10 top up has no time limit.

Asda sims give you a free allowance

15 mins and texts or 25

No top up necessary

No. 1pmobile has a strict requirement for you to top-up £10 worth of credit on your phone every 120 days. If you don't, your number will be lost.

The cheapest or one of, is O2, which only requires one 2p a text every 6 months for an active number.

If its the 02 Classic bundle that you're thinking of, 02 withdrew it a month ago.

What makes the Asda deal attractive to me is the £1 top-up even tho the call/txt charges are relatively high.  A messy meet set-up/negotiation might easily use up that whole £1 but at least there's no further investment tied up waiting for the next time.  (just call me anal!)

To the above and also in general - surely when ordering a sim online you have to give them a name/address to post it to? And then you use a credit card (presumably in your name) to top it up?  Is there any way to obtain a sim that doesn’t leave a trail somewhere!? Or are there some easy solutions to the above that I’m missing?

Good point to make but the police will take in consideration of family life/workplace so hence will most likely ask you questions in private/police station. You can always fob it off as family issue/work place issue after.

Been using O2 for over 10 years. When credit runs low, just go to local garage etc and ask for an O2 mobile top up. Once you've keyed in the 16 digit number off your voucher, your credited immeadiately.  :hi:

I went into the Three store and bought a 123 sim for £10 cash. No need to top up until all credit used - but must make a chargeable call within 6 months.
Put it into a spare phone and was up & running without any personal details exchanged.
I then wanted to put WhatsApp on it so had to sign into iTunes to download it.
However, if it were just a basic phone 100% anonymous.

The trouble with all the main network payg's  (and all the cheaper piggyback ones as well) is that anonymity is lost if you want to have parental controls switched off.  To do that you have to produce ID or give out your deets.   These then get run thru the police computer PNC.  Assuming you're clean on there, your deets are then put on a register of 'dodgy citizens' before the parent con is switched off.

Adult stuff is only one of the sectors on that register.  Another sector is political activism.  Ironically, the more green the activity, the more suspect it is in the eyes of the state.

The conclusion i come to is that if you want the benefits of ukp/aw on the move, its impossible to avoid that whole process.

I use the built in vpn on the opera browser app to access adultwork and other adult sites. Unfortunately this website does not allow it. So I do it on wifi.

You've mixed up provider charges somewhere, EE has been 35p calls for sometime. Just order an O2 sim for free, theres a link to it on this thread and its cheaper than the prices you quoted.

Thanks for that..........much appreciated.
So just basically just go into an O2 store and buy a sim and you're away  - no need to register or activate it?

You will have to activate it but the staff will do that for you inhouse. No names, no pack drill. When credit is low go into a store and buy a £10 top up. You will receive a voucher. diall 4044 I think- its on the voucher. It will ask you to dial the 16 digit code and hey presto you have topped up.

Sorry, don't believe a word of it. Who is going to sign off on such a colossal waste of money when they csn't even keep track of the mobiles used by thousands of terror suspects ?
