Author Topic: Tadalafil or Sildenafil?  (Read 2554 times)

Hi

Has anyone got a preference of Tadalafil or Sildenafil? I have been using Sildenafil now for a couple of months. I usually take half a 50mg once or twice a week before a punt or bit of fun at home. Have just been reading about Tadalafil however and it seems like this may be a good option due to it lasting a lot longer. I am going to Thailand soon an anticipate it could be better as I would only have to have a couple a week rather than one a day. Any thoughts?

Offline MME

I tried Cialis the other day and I was impressed with it when compared with viagra. It lasted over 36 hours for me so I managed to get a couple of fucks out of it. If you are fucking every day in Thailand then maybe that’s the way to go.

Tadalafil tends to give a more natural feel to the erection and lasts longer. Unlike Sildenafil you can take it well in advance of needing it.
Also, needing a lower dose, the side effects tend to be less.

You might want to rethink that reasoning.

not really: its a second generation version of that kind of drug. More efficacious, better targeted, requires a lower dose for the same effect - which equates to reduced side effects. No blue halo for instance

Tadalafil for me after trying both have found less side effects and longer lasting, have found that 10mg twice a week keeps me ready for action. :hi:

The important point is that it's a different drug and the side effects could be worse than sildenafil for some users regardless of dosage size.

Prefer Valdenafil after trying these both.

Best of the 3.

Presume you mean Vardenafil. This is the same as Levitra. There is an excellent comparison of side effects of all these drugs here: External Link/Members Only

I agree.  :hi: :hi:

Vardenafil is IMHO the best of the lot. Only downside is the price.

NHS website - Can I get medication for erectile dysfunction (ED) on the NHS?
Yes, medication for erectile dysfunction (ED) is available on the NHS. It's available on prescription from GPs and specialists.

There were restrictions on who could have these treatments on the NHS until 2014, but some of these restrictions have since been lifted as cheaper medicines became available.

ED medicines available on the NHS
The following medications for ED can be prescribed on the NHS:

sildenafil (an unbranded version of Viagra)
moxisylyte hydrochloride (Opilon)
apomorphine hydrochloride
Of these, sildenafil is the most widely available on the NHS in England.

Branded Viagra, tadalafil (Cialis), vardenafil (Levitra) and avanafil (Spedra) aren't available on the NHS except in certain circumstances.

Branded ED medicines
The branded ED medicines Viagra, Cialis, Levitra and Spedra are only available on the NHS for people with ED who have or have had:

diabetes
multiple sclerosis (MS)
Parkinson's disease
polio
prostate cancer
spina bifida
a spinal cord injury
certain genetic conditions, such as Huntington's disease
major pelvic surgery, such as surgery to remove tumours
removal of the prostate (prostatectomy)
dialysis or a kidney transplant for kidney failure
They're also sometimes available on the NHS for men experiencing severe distress as a result of ED, but only after an assessment at a specialist centre.

If you don't meet these criteria, you can get these medicines on a private prescription from your GP. This means you'll need to pay the full cost of the medication. Prices vary, but on average four tablets costs around £20.

Which just emphasises that dosage isn't the important criteria.

This from the man who thinks the the best way of comparing two drugs is simply dosage size.

Apologies for repeating myself but I've posted the following anecdote, which I haven't presently the time to search for.

About 12 years ago, my GP prescribed Viagra when I told her that I was - at the age of about 60 - suffering erectile difficulties. I started on on 25 mg but finished up on 100 mg. [I should add that my congenital physical disability leaves me with circulation problems so I qualify for an NHS prescription. :yahoo:) ]

Fast forward 10 years or so and even 100 mg of Viagra wasn't always doing the trick for me, so I went back to my GPs where I saw a young female doctor who was a trainee GP. When I described my difficulties, she turned to the Formulary and discovered that, apparently, 20 mg of Cialis was more powerful than 100 mg of Viagra.

So, now, that's what's on my Repeat prescription.

I had semi same sort of experiance 59 years old..Told by GP ( one of gang of GP`s at my surgery not seen my own list one now for years )  :( :( " These sort of drugs are availbel from Chemists shops if your blood presure is ok and no interfering drugs then you should be fine with a small dose" .... Fat forward 3 -4 years I have dabbled with the legal ones easyily got from Asda  Llyods Simpleonline ect... I found cialis lasted long the 20mg was a killer headache but great boner I then did the daily which gave a softer hardon just getting iron bar before I came ...Sildenafil I find empty stomach with water no booze 1-2hrs before gives good result but best hard and control is when I take the small daily cialis and then 25-30 mg sildenafil an hour or so befor e deed  ( Yes dont mix is the warning sign I keep eye on blood presure and am ok in general health )

Many on here will warn of danger of mixing two but I have done and do the effect on the punt for me is better control and hardness enabling postion changing and hard pumping without loss of erection the abilty to keep reeming in doggy and then spin her to mish and spoons still inside is what I enjoy  :drinks: :drinks: :drinks:

I cant cum for another 10-12 hrs as the cum is powerfull and juddering I am able to go again 20 mins later just for as OH calls a "pokeymin"  When I took Kamagra I got killer headaches and heart pounding but I felt like I could shag for England  :yahoo: :yahoo:

I've found that the best ED treatment is a girl who's simply into shagging your brains out:)

Trouble is that treatment isn't in the BNF book of words:-(

Very helpful, thank you. I find Sildenafil gives me bloody awful headaches and a horrid blocked nose. I will try an alternative when i've run out of my stash....!

Yeah Vardenafil lol.

Side effects wise from experience it's better than the other 2 for me. Plus I take the lowest dose and it's rock hard throughout.

No headache, no facial flushing and it doesn't give you the shits lol compared to the other 2.

Sildenafil is woeful.

Can't believe it took so long for me to try the other alternatives.

Its not unusual in medical prescribing to try a drug then another and then sometimes a combination of similar drugs in order to get the best effrect with mimising the side effects.

Hi,  Going to tag this onto this thread.

I do not live in the UK and buy Viagra over the counter at the chemist, sometimes there is a little language difficulty.  I have stonking headaches and a blocked nose and dryness with it so I thought I would try Cialis for a change as the feedback seems positive.  I went to the chemist and he has given me the 5mg daily tablets, I did not realise until just now.

Has anyone got any experience of them?

I am visiting the UK and am going to have a bit of a punt fest so may be good but are they any good for one offs?

Any advice welcome  thanks

One offs. If you are taking recreationally a single dose of 5mg may be sufficient? otherwise just take 2 x 5mg tabs as a single dose. If you have true ED you can increase this to up to 4 x 5mg as a single dose if needed but be very careful about repeating that daily as effective blood levels are still present 36 hours later and ant side effects.

The 5mg daily dose regime should really only be done with medical supervision. It actually takes about a 5 days 'run in' for the optimal blood levels to be reached and 2.5mg is the normal starting dose for the daily regime increasing to 5mg as required.

Re side effects. All ED meds share roughly the same side effects. The frequency and severity of a particular med will vary widely from individual to individual ... as these threads always prove.

Whilst anecdotally they may be interesting they are likely to be of any real help. You just have to wait and see what your personal experience is.

With regard to the dosage discussion, if you get a particular side effect with a particular drug the severity will normally increase as the dosage of that drug increases (within the usual prescribing range). That dosage range is drug specific and can vary considerably even within the same genre (in this case PDE5 inhibitors) Comparing 20mg of Tadalafil to 100mg of sildenafil is therefore not relevant when comparing side effects on the basis one is 20mg and the other 100mg.

In patient feedback surveys Tadalafil scores higher than Sildenafil. It has some advantages. It is effective for longer and its effectiveness is not really influenced by stomach contents. It is generally better tolerated but as previously mentioned variations are significant. Its a case of suck it and see.

Just a comment to make people aware. If you suffer from gout most blood pressure drugs, ED included, can enhance Gout symptoms. I have been to the docs recently and they explained this to be the case. I am suffering big time currently.....  :scare:

Hard one this ( :D)

Seriously, I started off with Sildenafil and timing window aside I just think it works better for me.

Odd because the first time Tadalafil gave me an amazing super erection, the wife was extremely surprised....all night.
Then I got a great big supply of tadalfil (well known internet seller) and it just never happened again. It does the job but only just.

I preferred the slight rush to the head from Sildenafil, I could feel it working better and felt more of a peak for punt timings. I’m getting more once this Tadalafil I have runs out.

Offline Home Alone

Further to Reply #15 above, I should perhaps have added that, since starting to take Tadalofil, I almost always awaken on the morning after I took the tablet and punted, with a distinct 'Semi' on.
