Author Topic: Beware of Facebook and contact info  (Read 1813 times)

Facebook is a powerful tool, I’ve added a few WGs numbers into my contacts and discovered their real names and more as Facebook connects my contact list to their phone numbers.

If it works that way it’ll certainly work the other way around, because of my work, my FB account is invisible unless I add someone make sure you’re is locked down too.

Sage advice. Facebook really is a trashy thing. Unfortunately I find it quite useful to get in touch with people when I need to so I don't want to deactivate it. I stumbled across Angelina Jade's facebook profile once. However I use a burner phone which is an old Nokia so I don't know how Facebook would have got the number so I reckon it was just completely random. I also stumbled across another escort's profile but I had never met them or used their number so again must have been random.

Just also remembered I went on holiday to Ibiza about 5 years ago and there was a guy on our tour who he said he ran a website but didn't go into details. We added each other on facebook and I looked at his page and his friends list was full of camgirls who I recognised from adultwork. It's possible he works for Adultwork or possibly even owns it! He was complete and utter LAD and I was a bit intimidated by him as you felt that he would kick off at any moment but to be fair he was alright in the end.

Gosh I'm bored today so thought I'd share my facebook stories that's how bored I am!

Anybody with anything to lose that uses their personal facebook in connection to punting is just crazy.

if you must use facebook set up a fake account and never link it to anything personal to you.

In punting use a fake name, punting phone, punting email, and if you must use the like of whatsapp or twitter have fake accounts on those as well, but most important keep them separate from your personal ones.

The wg's create entirely false identities for their business so why would anybody expect their clients to have diff'rent rules.

Second that

but you need to be able trust the person you are punting. Discretion from both sides are key IMO.

Merely setting up a fake account and then looking at a SPs facebook page isn't enough as if you do this on the same device as you log on to your personal facebook account it will link them all via your ISP and you will likely come up on her page under 'people you may know'

Maybe I should have added a punting web browser as well.    :hi:

I use Opera for all things punting with fake email and facebook ect then chrome for my normal ones. They are both on the same desktop and nothing links, I don't even come up as someone I know on either account. Maybe I've just been lucky.     :unknown:

Edit

Just had a look on my punting facebook and there's loads of 'people you may know' none of whom I do, they're from all over, including USA and Mexico. So even if I wasn't single I can't see any that crop up being difficult to explain.

The point is your personal FB with your full name, work & family details potentially becomes accessible to her.

Facebook , find friends,  suggestions.
Apart from the obvious where it suggests friends of friends , workplace,  posted locations , I think there must be suggestions based purely on my phone's location. ( and I  never use wi-fi)
I base that assumption on finding the profiles of some SPs , mostly Thai,  who I know usually by their nicknames/work names, but FB has thrown up their actual.profiles as suggested friends .

To be honest I can't see how, my punting FB is 'open' and I don't get suggestions for people I actually know, my personal FB is 'closed' in that I mean it limits, as far as possible, who can see what or send friend requests. I do get suggestions for people I know on my personal one but I presume that comes via friends or people I contact.

I've never been to or had any contact with anyone in Mexico on my punting FB yet I have suggestions for people I might know who live there. It's the same with the USA, I've only been to the north but get suggestions for people in the south. Likewise various cities throughout the UK.

The point I'm making, up to now, my 2 FB accounts have never had the same suggestions or suggested each other, nor have they linked in any way.

I'm no expert in social media but from what you say as I use the same computer and IP address for both FB accounts they should link in some way or at least suggest each other as someone you may know, they don't though.

On my personal FB I get more suggestions for people in my local area and on my punting one more from outside my local area. Like I said I must just be lucky.

No idea why some punters subject themselves to this.  Pure stupidity and marital suicide.

Get a "dumb" phone for punting. Zero traceability and disposable in case you encounter a wg with screws loose.

I couldnt give a toss about a hookers private life so trollong their social media and encriminating my own is out of the equation

Would never do this. To easy to make a mistake and log in to the wrong browser etc. Have had this problem when i had a phone with 2 sims in it. Regularly call a wg on the wrong number!!

I'd agree. I've had similar experiences that can only be explained by Facebook using location/proximity to suggest facebook friends.

It seems to me facebook profiles are matched and added to each others new friends suggestions list if the following criteria are fulfilled:
- Smart Phones are switched on.
- Facebook App or WhatsApp are installed on both phones (may also get triggered by logging into facebook on a browser on the phone).
- Both phones have GPS location services activated
- Both phones are in the same location for an extended period of time (not sure how long that has to be)
(There may be other filters/criteria involved. Like some public locations may be filtered out, for example I don't get sent loads of friend suggestions that I recognise from the pub.)

I take both my punting phone and my civvie phone with me when out punting. A couple of years back I noticed that I was getting some unexpected friend suggestions, and I assume they were getting me listed too. Now I switch my civvie phone off when I'm approaching the punt venue. I've not noticed any WG's on my friend suggestions lists since. The punting phone is also a smart phone, but without any social media apps installed.

I turned off my Facebook profile a few years ago simply because Facebook has more security holes in it than a cheese grater.

Facebook exists entirely for the purpose of gathering personal and other information from everybody who is daft enough to supply it for the sole purpose of enriching its owners, sponsors and advertisers, as well as (indirectly) all the thieves and fraudsters who rely on it for their ill-gotten gains.

Once you have a Facebook page you simply cannot delete it - only hide it - but you can remove all its contents and then (if you`ve any sense) never visit it again.

If you put anything on it you may just as well have put it on a giant advertising hoarding at the top of every market square in  the world, as well as including it in ITV News bulletin.

That is so true and so well said.
