the point of a condom is to protect you from infections being spread assuming that the other person IS infected.

It's just a matter of probabilities. Barebackers have a higher chance of having many of the possible diseases. If the condom breaks, you are at risk. Totally agree with you; when I was younger I never even considered using protection if I met a girl and we went to bed together, and never caught anything.
