Yup, e.g. check out External Link/Members Only, if you look at the side bar, you can see there's many folk paying just to have their questions read out by a couple of random gamers.  Well ok, Arch is quite big in warhammer circles, but not even his most ardent fans would call him a celebrity.

You don't even have to hire anyone to get into the e-Thot game. If you search, there's guides out for there for how to fake being one, quite a few blokes make money like that apparently, albeit probably only averaging about £10 / hour.   Like Payyourwaymate  says, it's only about the 1% who make the big bucks - though even that may change as AI controlled synthetic e-Thots increasingly become a thing.

I've spent some time in the past on MyFreeCams (never bought any credits, just watched).

From observations:

3/4 of the women there seem to be Colombian etc. and in studio sets or whatever they're called.  endless stream of these ranging from "wouldn't touch that with someone else's bargepole" to "FAF".

A lot of women just sit / lie there fully dressed looking completely bored, playing with their phone etc., wanting 200 credits to "flash boobies", "400 for pussy" etc.

(1) Loneliness.  Conversing and interacting, possibly using 2 way cams, with the girl actually makes it seem like you're with her.
