Author Topic: Punting cash saved, lockdown over.  (Read 1197 times)

I guess this is a carry over from the "Lockdown Over" thread.
I was just thinking about the money a lot of us will have saved during the lockdown periods.
Speaking for myself. Getting back to punting normality will simply mean easing back into things and not going overboard.

But might others go mad with all that saved dosh in their wallets and punt like its going out of fashion.

On a re-think. It does sound appealing. The thought of a FFFM session and blowing a chunk of the money I have put away on an orgy.
Mind you, the cars coming up for service, MOT, tyres....decisions, decisions.

In normal times - remember them? - I had a sum fixed in my head each month as my 'punting budget' which I didn't tried not to exceed. It will be a real temptation to make up for lost time and exceed that once we get some indication that the All Clear is about to be sounded.

But, at the moment, I'm determined not to. There are three SPs - one duo; and the nearest I've got to a semi-Regular [someone reasonably local I can usually book at fairly short notice when I'm feeling horny] - who I booked but then cancelled, but with adequate notice, during the the first two lockdowns. I kinda feel they ought to be my first bookings when we're back as near to the old normal as possible.

So that first month may be busier for me. But after that, well at the moment, my plan is to return to my usual monthly routine: one session with my Regular; and one with another SP.

It would be a real temptation to see LOADS of SPs :yahoo: but I haven't had a proper holiday for three or four years and my passport's as dusty as some SPs' phones!! :D

HOLIDAY.

Oh I’ve been dreaming about getting away. ...... sigh.

I too have had this thought, saved quite a bit since July 2020 but insurance due, service due, repairs (tyres etc) due next few months, i decided to open another bank account and slowly by slowly since last year I put some money away each month for the punting fund,  that way other bills wont be affected.
Having said that a holiday is a must!!! Decisions indeed.

Offline SamOmar

I never save money, my bank balance is always 0 by the end of the month with or without punting as I will just spend the money elsewhere

Skimming £10 or £20 every now again to stash away with the punting phone + Not punted since Feb 2020 = A healthy wad I am eager to blow as soon as lock down is done.

You cannot spend cash anywhere else, so it has just been building up slowly.

I auto-transferred savings into another account the day after pay day, so built up a nice pot.  Interest rates are shite.

I also increased my pension contributions to take advantage of the weaker stock market.

I lost my mum last year, and was left ££££££ in her will, will I go mad and spend like there no tomorrow, no.  I might treat my self to the odd punt, but that will be the most I will do, and  have other things planned

It’s what she would have wanted I’m sure.

Seriously though, sorry for your loss.

I look at the good wad ive got stored up(ive been saving up the funds i would normally punt with as nothing else really to spend it on apart from normal bills and food shopping, all of my other interests are on hold) and it is a comfort in these difficult times. I always thought that once it was safe to return to punting i would have a bit of a spree but the more this goes on the less im missing it tbh and will probably blow it on a bloody good holiday instead.

I suppose that's the thing with past year, there are winners and losers. I've been lucky enough to have been on a fixed income through-out and accumulate savings by dint of having nothing much to spend it on. But, despite having a fat wallet, anytime I glance at AW and see most of them at £180p/h upwards I think no no no lady, I think you've priced yourself out of my market.
Obviously they can charge what they like and good luck to 'em if they can pull in £180 p/h. It's just I'm not paying that. I suspect I'll be foregoing any punting in favour of fine dining, culture, theatre, cinema and other things I've missed.

That sounds like an interesting swap. Where's your wife going?  ;)

This has actually shown me i don't need to punt. No idea what I will do when it ends and if I go back.

I used to have a punting budget. But now I don't. It all goes on hookers.  :D

It was usually lack of funds which limited my punting activity. I'll come out of Covid with more disposable cash yet as some have said, I've kind of lost the interest and realised there are plenty of other things I want to spend it on.

I have been putting some cash away from my left over pay. I think 2021 will be bumper year year for escorts once lockdown is over, thanks to full testicles and full wallets!

You make a very good point about higher prices and i suppose the danger is that with money saved up in a weak moment i might pay these ridiculous prices but i really hope not. Like you cant wait to get back to those other things you mentioned like dining, cinema and theatre things i now realise i miss more than punting.

My thoughts exactly: hoping some restaurants on the hotlist are still around since I know some have folded already and loads are struggling but will be back to cinema and theatre. Punting can wait a bit - I'll certainly try to get some bookings in but if there is a massive uptake for anything inc punting, dining, shopping etc I'm quite happy to wait until it all calms down. I will be slightly annoyed if I miss out on something but I try not to get fixated - there will always be more 'unmissable' opportunities in the future.
