This post explains and is spot on although it should really read UTI
You can easily purchase urinalysis test strips online which among other things will give you an indication of whether you have a urinary tract infection but the urine sample will need a full lab analysis to (a) confirm and (b) identify the causative pathogen which in turn will determine the best treatment.
Thanks. So, one step further (and I know that I should do my own research and will do so) but is a STI a UTI? Or perhaps I should say are some STIs UTIs? I hope that makes sense?
And then going further, I know that other STIs are blood infections, hence why I have bloods taken as well eg HIV.
So surely every thorough STI check up should be at least urine and bloods and then, depending on the risk analysis of the patient, there could be an oral swab as well?
I “think” I’ve answered my own question
but clarification would be appreciated.
