Just for a change, something a bit heartwarming.

Good luck to her, and respect for both making it happen and being willing to talk about it. Man seems to have done a good job as well, so well played to him.

At least she's under no illusions that it's a transactional affair and not a substitute for the real thing.

surely its only a ‘nice sex work story’ because the individual is disabled,  the BBC will allow this positive view on sex work when it involves disabled punter.

If the individual was a healthy, able bodied white male who had a consensual encounter with a sex worker the BBC would not be painting such a rosie picture.

And of course prostitution/ paying for sex is legal in parts of Australia and so probably not frowned upon as it is in the UK

With a few exceptions prostitution / paying for sex is perfectly legal in England, Scotland and Wales.   :unknown:

If a woman in England, Scotland and Wales pays her taxes for working as an escort, then this is legal. Two women working together in the same property is classed as a brothel, which is illegal.

To be fair, the article explicitly states that it’s legal to pay for / sell sex in all of the UK except NI but solicitation and brothels are not legal.

I saw this article earlier and I thought it was a positive article about sex work, showing one element of how it can be useful. Of course she’s disabled but that brought up sensible discussion about consent and vulnerability.

I particularly like how she explained that it’s made her much more confident and outgoing.

Overall a very positive article for the industry.

I think it would even have been given a different slant if the disabled person seeking services was a man.

A bit different as it’s based on a sex therapist rather than an escort but the film “the sessions” explores this topic well and is a decent watch. Based on a true story too if I remember correctly

The male escort in question is doing well 200 quid an hour ir said !

It wouldn't be newsworthy either.

Most of the vilifying press relating to sex work I'd suggest comes from commercial outlets

Blimey Doc, just seen your updated photo.

I have to say, I've seen you look healthier.

Not necessarily, it isn't illegal for a woman to work in a brothel, nor is it illegal for a man to pay for sex in a brothel.

Whether or not she pays tax is totally irrelevant and doesn't make being a prostitute illegal.
