Author Topic: Extortion Attempt  (Read 3697 times)

Before everyone shoots me down for not posting on the website I apologise in advance.

But has anyone ever been subject to extortion/threats by individuals that hang around certain premises in central Birmingham?

Offline Kerosene

I'm presuming this isn't a hypothetical situation. What happened to you and what did they say?

Offline dss309

So a friend of mine visited an apartment block in central Birmingham.

When he left he was approached by 2 men who were conveniently wearing face masks.

They questioned as to why he was there and accused of visiting a WG and buying drugs.

Told him they were going to phone the police and wanted a statement from him confirming why he was there and what he had been doing. Then told him if he didn't want the police involved then he could pay them a fee and they would let him go with just a 'warning'.

These men told him that they had logged the registration plate of his car and we're going to report him unless he paid them. They instructed him to go to a cash point and withdraw the money and that they would wait for him to return to his car and collect the money.

I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this because it's very worrying that this type of thing is going on.

He said he walked about 15 minutes down the road and circled back to his car, when he was close by the two men were driving away in their vehicle and shouted to him that they had contacted the police.

I do hope your friend took their numberplate and phoned the police?

What your mate did wasn't illegal in any way, what they did was demanding money with menaces/blackmail, whatever you want to call it.

It's absolutely diabolical!

He said he asked them for ID and to remove their masks....which they refused to do. Initially he tried to get into his car and they stopped him saying 'We're going to hold you until the police get here'.

He said they were driving a silver van which had been converted so it had seats and windows in the back.

Also he said the 2 men insinuated that they needed directions and that's how they initiated conversation with him.

They're not even genuine local vigilantes, they've simply contacted a WG on AW to find out where she operates from, and then they pick off punters who're obviously leaving post-punt. They rely on punters 'wanting no trouble' and probably make a few hundred a day.

They're the type of useless individuals who want their kneecaps smashing with a baseball bat, hopefully they might meet someone one day to make that happen .

She probably ain’t.
It’s easy for a bunch of guys to sit outside some of the apartment blocks and spot punter / WG coming and going.
Just be aware.
You can understand why WG don’t like giving away their address. Easy targets after earning £1k/day.

Surely not though.....there's like 200 plus positive reviews and not a whisper of this kind of thing.

DON'T.

There's two of them.

But if you can find their car and there's no CCTV nearby, pour a bag of sugar in their fuel tank and put a housekey all up the side. it'll make you feel a whole lot better  ;).

Almost certainly nothing to do with her. I think she's a successful and popular WG with no reason to be involved in this kind of shit?

Infact that's probably why they picked her gaff to loiter outside.

I remember seeing one asian guy just lurking outside by upper William's street the day before that report on safe was made. He had a coronavirus mask on. And looked very suspicious. I parked up to make a text and he was staring at me for a while and then I drove off. The thing is is that they probably know that even though plenty of guys would just smash their heads in, itll cause issues with police later and you'll have to explain to the family what happened even though what you initially went for wasnt illegal in the first place. What I read and confirmed with a credible member of this site is that if two girls were working in one apartment at a time or even alternated days it would count as a brothel which is illegal or if they're being forced. One day though they'll probably come across a guy who just dosent care and does them in.

Offline dss309

The thing is what would the police actually do if they reported it? I can't imagine they are going to retrospectfully start knocking on people's doors asking them why they were at certain places at certain times. My house was burgled about 6 months ago and it took the police 4 months to review the CCTV footage.

Interestingly, I've had a read up on extortion/blackmail and that's a much more serious crime/subject.

Online RandomGuy99

Sounds like BS to me.

They have no way of knowing why you visited a building or who you were there to see.  The police wouldn't even bother with it.  Don't even get into a conversation with them.

I never park outside or close to the WG's incall place.  I usually park a few streets away or in a multi-storey car park.  I try to bring as little attention to myself as possible.  If I arrive a bit early then I'll wait at a previously scouted location away from the WG's door. When you get the nod to come in then I slowly and calmly walk to the WG's place and go in.  You only draw attention to yourself if you attempt to hide or appear nervous.

It's good that they think you're maximising the use of the visit by buying drugs and seeing an escort at the same time.

Some good advice on this thread on how to avoid and deal with situations like this. Also if in the vicinity of the punt either on way in or out, don’t stop and engage in conversation with ANYONE! Be unsociable, if you’re approached just keep moving and just mumble something like “I haven’t got time!” If that is really necessary.

Must say I’ve never encountered a scenario like this. But I can easily see it happening. Most local punters know these apartment blocks WG’s are using. Not difficult to understand chancers/criminals could be lurking around observing punters. And some punters are not difficult to spot! Hanging around outside apartment blocks on their phones, sometimes looking flustered because they may seem lost. Then 30 mins 1hr later they’re seen exiting the building looking rather pleased with themselves.  :D

I always use public transport when punting in central Brum. Most these apartments are between 5 mins - 20 mins walk from new street train station. If you are using your car, park a good distance away. (As has been mentioned already) or even why not park on a near by train station and jump the train to new street. Better safe than sorry I say. :hi:

Online RandomGuy99

I think not engaging in conversation makes you look suspicious, so if I bump into someone on the way in or out I try to be friendly and chat, but not overly so. I talk about the weather or the hotel/area (like guests do), etc.

They'd have to see you both going in and then coming out again. And, they'd have to note every car parking up and then follow the drivers to the door of the block too. Unless they are in full stakeout mode rather than being a couple of cancers, sorry, chancers, I'd say they balance of probability is against them having your car registration. If they do approach you on the way out I'd suggest keeping clear of your car until you're sure they're not on your tail.

I meant get into conversation with people you bump into once you're in the venue e.g. waiting for lifts, in the lift, going up stairs, at the door of building if you bump into people (usually wait until nobody is around but sometimes people just turn up and doing a 180 looks more suspicious, so you have to proceed but no keying in apartment numbers in front of them).

I wouldn't get into a conversation outside the place unless I'm lost which happened once and the person directed me to the correct building.  I've also had people ask me for directions. Once I thought it was another punter asking about the same building I couldn't find, so I was tempted to say have fun.

Lots of flats in Brum with less than 10rooms per block/entrance, and multiple WG working from the same block, so chances of spotting a punter are high.

There can be legitimate reasons for a 30 or 60 minute visit to a building.  Play innocent or shocked that such things go on and say you'll let the building manager know about their suspicions of such activities going on. They have no way of knowing why you have been there.

Or even tell them you work for the management company for the building and you'd visited because a resident had complained about suspicious people hanging around outside the building bothering their visitors and then ask them for their name and did they mind you taking a photo of them for your records.

True.

I usually avoid high volume WGs and prefer indies for this reason. I did once book a tourer and when I arrived at "her" venue it was as busy as a supermarket. Back to back punters coming and going, so I headed home. I suspected it was going to be B & S too and "girl" was so busy she didn't even respond to my messages for the apartment number.  I was glad I decided to walk.

Thieving cunt makes fake booking with escort to find her in call location. Thieving cunt, sometimes with another cunt as backup,  then hangs around the location outside and either pretends to be her pimp, collecting the money before you even get in the building (because all pimps hang around outside  :dash:) or makes you believe you're committing a crime by  fucking or going to fuck an escort (you're not unless she's forced against her will in to prostitution by a pimp or similar, in which case you can be convicted for rape and your ignorance isn't a defence).

Always prepare a good cover story for these tossers. You're visiting/just visited a mate or a girlfriend. You've come to the wrong door if it's a house/maisonette. Learn to walk like you belong in an area, punting guilt or nerves can make you stand out like you've got a neon sign over you (this also can get you unwanted attention in hotels). Scout out your area and consider what you're wearing when you go there. If you're wearing designer gear and driving an expensive new car in Crapston Villas you're going to stand out like a sore thumb, dress down for a punt and don't park your flash car on her road, she's only impressed by your money and you not being a cunt during the booking. Take a comb with you for after the punt to sort your bed hair out if you have enough that it's a problem. If your confident enough you could even bullshit the cunts back by telling them you girlfriend/mate's pissed off by the prostitute too and wants to get them evicted.

Remember, you don't have any money on you and you so they'll have to call the police (because pimping, theft and extortion are all perfectly legal in the UK  :sarcastic:).

Some escorts have received negative reviews on here because of thieving cunts. These thieving cunts are nothing more than leeches.

Offline shavedgoodboy

Very sorry to hear about this. I’m always wary of my car when I punt. I always fear it getting robbed or hit, explaining why I was there at the time and place would always be awkward. I like to get train in to Brum and walk from there. Outside of Brum I like to drive to the nearest supermarket and walk from there. You know there will be cameras there and of anything does go wrong you can claim you were picking something up at the supermarket. Be careful and safe out there all.

Online petermisc

What these masked guys did was basically demanding money with menace.  The chances that they would call the police is zero, because it would be them who would get done.  While they need to be stopped before they get worse, and I support the advice to call the police, it is also best not to escalate the situation.  Whipping your phone out to call the police there and then may not end well.  Best to extract yourself as quickly as possible, and call the police once you are safely away.

Offline Brumish

That particular area round the corner from the mailbox is a bit sketchy. I've always felt uneasy with while one-way system and pedestrianised area.

Some really good advice on how to carry yourself when visiting. The one thing I'd add is, if you have a bit of time and in a car, stake the place out.
Sometimes it's difficult to shake off the guilt/misbehaving feeling, but nobody has any right to ask you anything. Keep your wits about you gents.

Another obvious tip no one has mentioned, if you can and it’s convenient to you, do your punting early in the day when all the rats are still in their pits, rather than evening/night time.  :hi:

This happened to me in Birmingham Novotel.  A Pakistani man came to see me. Showed me a load of money and said oh I just wanted to make sure it was you and I’ll be back at 9 for an overnight. I thought it was odd but said ok.

Next thing I know neither of the following two clients came up to the room after being given the room number. I called one of them and he said he had been robbed by this Pakistani man in grey tracksuit bottoms wielding a knife in his face claiming to be my security.

Then I was inside the hotel not knowing where he was and if I could get out of the place. It was terrifying for me and the clients involved. Plus the whole way home in my car I was thinking who else had he done this to because he showed me loads of cash.
