Author Topic: What % of your disposable income do you spend on punting?  (Read 2301 times)

Online freddytb1

When I was taking home just over 2k a month, I would allow myself a £60 punt a week. This was a couple years back when £60 was a fairly common rate for 30 mins.

This was about 12% of my take home salary. In reality I don't think I punted weekly, more like once or twice a month often with the same SPs, but £240 a month was my allowance.

Curious to hear how much you guys spend/would allow yourself to spend?

It really depends on your salary and financial commitments like pension contributions, mortgage payments, etc.

Offline big-al93

As randomguy says, maybe a better question is what percentage of your disposable income goes on punting. My wage isn't high, but my cost of living is low.
Therefore what would seem like a huge percentage of my income to those with families, mortgage and car payments isn't that big a deal as I have none of those costs.
That said I don't punt as often as I would like, ideally I'd be doing an hour most weeks, but by the time you factor in weeks where you CBA, get cancelled on or just don't see anyone available that you want to book, it's way less than that.

Of course. My question probably wasn't very clear. I wasn't really asking how much of our salary should we be spending, more how much people are actually spending as I'm intrigued to know how much importance or priority people give to this 'indulgence'.

Even then my question is probably a bit simplistic because, as you said, only mentioning income and punting figures doesn't factor in all those other things you mentioned.

True, too late to modify my post now haha

its a myth that the brits dont like talking about sex, but they are extremely coy talking about money, it depends what stage you are at in life, a young man has all manner of outgoings, a retired guy has few, but ironically less physical capacity, could be illustrated in a graph for o grade maths.

Never really thought about percentages. I punt when I can afford to punt and don’t when I can’t afford it.
Sometimes I won’t punt for a few weeks if I want to save up for an expensive one

I’m not even sure how to answer this as that % figure must have changed and yo-yo’d over the years.

Besides. I’m not interested in what any of you lot fork out for your punts.  :D

Age has a bearing on this. One of the few advantages of growing old is that you can spend as much as you like on punting, because whatever you may have in the bank, it's unlikely you'll need it for anything else. Most of it will either go to the kids - who'll only waste it - or, more likely, in care home fees at £1,000 or more a week.

So you can either save that £150 to pay for another day in a care home - where you'll be ga-ga anyway - or spend it now on an hour with a succulent, young Brazilian hottie. Which makes it no decision at all, really.

When you've run out of money to pay the care home, the state has to pay; so in a sense, it's the state who'll be paying for your Copacabana cutie, which will make her taste all the sweeter. :P

For the last 6 months or so, mine comes to approx 21% of my income per month(after tax). Blimey, I need to cut it down.

Around £400 a month.

Mine is 8% spend on net income on escorts in a yr. I don't go on holidays though.

I think if you keep spending on escorts less than 10% of net income is ok ish.

Roughly £100 a month, my regular is £50 for 30 mins, so it gets me 2 sessions a month. If an exciting tourer comes to my area about £250 a month.

Usually £2k a year on punting. I make £40k per year.

That's peanuts especially considering you are on £40K.

I've just done more calculations and if I look at my disposable income, after rent, bills, child support etc. I'm left with £900, so spending £400 a month, means I'm actually burning 44% of my left over on punting. But then again, I don't smoke, I don't do drugs and I hardly drink. So whatever.

Online Colston36

About 50% normally - £800 - as I have very low out goings usually. But for the last 4 months zero as I had an op that made it impossible. Starting again on Friday.

I go on many civvy dates, meeting women from dating apps. Those dates burn a lot of money £80-150 per date, that sometimes end up going nowhere

Just trying to be careful, some local girls like Par are very discreet, don’t see Nina in Stapleford, she will cause trouble if she can, I try to avoid Nottingham massage shops, picking girls that tour helps as they don’t know many local Thais, most importantly keeping your head down, no eye contact at the Thai festival.

I have many a friend who spends more of their 'spare' (after everything else) money on vanilla hobbies (track days, golf etc.) than I do on this hobby.

As long as you don't prioritise this hobby over your vanilla life / expenses and your ambitions, then fill your boots, whether that be <1% or >10%
