Lex, maybe I'm just an old romantic
, but in my book a relationship is about genuine love and attraction of the person, not what they can give you materially. Obviously I don't think anyone should shack up with someone who won't contribute financially and at least work a job (I don't like leeches), but the thought of having a "boyfriend" or , heaven forbid a
marriage just for money makes me
a little.
On the other hand, the sex industry is about fantasy (not reality) and sex. and money. I don't think it's useful for a man to risk a less-than-discreet "situation" with a paid mistress or start having feelings for someone who's only there for the cash he provides. And it's not useful for a woman (especially if young and short of cash) to be dependent on one man for a large chunk of her income, or have feelings for someone who is only there for the sex she provides.
It seems a bit fake and dishonest and crass to me. 'Real' prostitution seems rather quaint and simple in comparison lol.
