What do you think is the aggregate money that all the punters have paid this year using UKPunting as a source to derive you estimate?
I have come up with about: £600,000
My thought is:
•   3000 reviews
•   The average asking price for an hour is £100
•   Each is average 45-min (split between 1 hour and 30 mins) – so £75 the average punt.
•   There are 65% good reviews which attract other punters to go see them, thus adding more to the aggregate – let’s say 2 for good ones, and up to 10 for excellent ones.
•   There have been about 6 excellent ones (that I recall reading of).

Thoughts?

That's a lot of;

VAT
NI
Income Tax

that the Exchequer has missed out on!  :D

My thoughts.

Total nonsense.

No way of estimating these figures.

My head nearly exploded just trying to work out the maths, but if that is the number you have come up with then you can at least double it, maybe even treble it as you seem to have based it purely on reviews. We all know that not everyone leaves a review of every WG they see, myself included, and for varying reasons. I don't even want to contemplate how much I have spent in the first quarter of 2015.

Whenever you think of a number at least double it to get closer to the truth

Probably many visit nit reviewed

I think ur way off the mark, providing u've estimated to the end of April, that's equating to £1.8 million, if we just take  that as an average and multiply it for the rest of the year.
If u then see how many WGs are actually registered on AW, there would not be enough money to go around all of them. Granted some will be earning more than others but surely if therewas no money in it , no one would go on the game. Even the ugly ones seem to earn a crust.
Several million IMO.
Just for comparrison, some of the good sauna girls earn £500 + a day, on an average day.

I love 'How much?' or 'How many?' topics. Really amusing. I'll add a couple of other things to think about.

How long's a piece of string?
What are this weeks winning lottery numbers?

Answers on a postcard to......

If you come at this another way you will get a better idea.

1. how many WG's in the UK
2. average take by each girl
3. total number of punts
4. average number of punts by each punter
5. percentage of eligible men who are punting

Each of these will just be a guess but you can be fairly sure your guess is within a factor of 3 or so.
For example an average punter wont do ten punts per month nor one punt per year. Ten per year seems believable.

You will find I think, that it takes about one bloke in ten to be an average punter to keep all the AW, parlour and street girls busy.

Think about your mates, work collegues, relatives etc is it believable that ten per cent are punting, Seems OK to me.

This produces an enormous amount being spent on punting. The good old gov said it was 6 BN.
And when they did this the EEC wanted more VAT.

A review can make or break a WG's career. Why do you think some profiles disappear after a negative review here?, and more importantly a positive review can turn a dusty phone into one that won't stop ringing - I.e leading to hundreds of bookings from other punters not just 10. The Xena review thread I posted had 30,000 reads last time I checked (not taking credit for finding this gem - I thank Steve2 for that) but I think you're vastly underestimating our impact on a girl's business.

I don't think I'd care about how much money would have been spent via using UKP. I use UKP to get recommendations, ask about certain escorts, express my opinions, share my experiences, and post reviews.

These sorts of estimates can be helpful - with enough reflection they can answer the question.  But what is the question?

We dont want it to be one of the stupid "big number" things. Shock horror: a man has an erection every 5 seconds.  So what? There are 32 million men in the UK - multiplying anything by 32 million makes it seem big, since we are not evolved to deal with big numbers.  Remember something that has a 1 in a million chance of happening to you today, does happens to someone in the UK 64 times today.

So if the point is the sex industry is real money, then agreed.  If it is that UKP has an impact then agreed.  What is the point though?

or the chancellor of the exchequer.

Just imagine if they legalised prostitution, what would the income tax take be.
More than enough to wipe out the deficit and create a healthy surplus, me thinks.

ukip have u missed a trick, this might be one policy which might actually get u some votes. Come on Nigel we all know u punt, ukp being the premier choice of punters, ergo, U've got to be reading this.. That's the only way anyone as ugly as u is getting laid. :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:
