Hi all,

Perhaps this is a stupid question, but how do you get yourself checked up for a sexual health check? Do you have to do a advance booking for the hospital or can you just turn up and they will see you? Also how long does it take for results to come through?

Just wondering in case if I ever need to go  :hi:

There are plenty of NHS clinics around London certainly and I go every three months as a matter of routine. You don't usually need an appointment, the ones I go to are walk - in. Results via text or automated phone call (you call them!) within a week, or you can get a written cert if you want.

Offline akauya

I think you're a London punter yes? If so you can get your result the same day at 34 Dean Street or Dean Street Express as they call it. If you have no symptoms and you just want to have a regular test that's the place to go. You answer a small questionnaire on a touch screen computer, they give you a number, you piss in a pot, they take your blood sample, have a chat with a doc and six hours later you get your results via text. Couldn't be simpler and easier. Whilst you're there tell them you pay for sex and get the Hep B vaccine too.

As i work away from home i just google the nearest walk in clinic to where I'm working & go there, never been asked for my real name or address.
The staff are always very good and have never looked down on me and seem totally unshockable.
Results come via text within 2 weeks.
For me its not a matter of going if i need to i go every 3 months because i want to.
Hope this helps

As others have already posted but some GUMs have appointment only clinics on certain days, some men only, and walk-ins on others. My advice is ring the one your going to be going to first and ask or look online, although i have found on a couple of occasions the online information was out of date.

Also you can make up a name and address rather than use your own if you so wish, i always do and a few i go to know i do as i give different details each time, they dont care. I dont want any chance of my GUM visits geting on my medical record. Most staff are fine in my experience and they have heard it all before. I say i punt so i get all the tests.

I should get myself tested really, but one thing putting me off is the blood sample.

When I've given blood or had injections in the past I've ended up with very prominent bruising on my arm.
What's the blood sample for? It seems a shame to go to the trouble then skip an important stage, but I can't be found out

If you're worried about being found out by a partner then I would suggest having to find an excuse for a bruised arm is preferable to not getting checked and running the risk of catching something and passing it on.  Being found out that way would be a hell of a lot worse.  Surely you could just say you had a doctors appointment and they wanted to take some blood for something?

Last time I had a "problem" I visited this one, just walk in and wait, you could be there some time. I was quite surprised that it was a mixed clinic, men and women in the same waiting room.    :scare:

Agreed. I find it quite scary how little importance certain punters put on their own health/life - and maybe that of their unsuspecting partner at home. Would these same punters visit a pro$$ie who openly brags that she's never been to a GUM clinic in her life?

Sorry if it offends anyone on UKP, but these ignorant people are as thick as pig shit.  :hi:

So the OP does a gang bang and bangs a BB (though covered) and is worried that the wife will ask too many questions about a bruise on the arm from having a blood test...

Fucking hell if her piss starts stinging she is going to be asking a lot more questions then why have you got a bruise on your arm.

Whoops I got the OP confused with Dr Who.

But the point stands to Dr Who

Your missus is going to ask a lot more questions if she catches a dose than just if you have a bruise on your arm

Could people please tell me more about the Hep B Vaccine?

Can you get a Hep B vaccine using annonamous name or does it need to go on your NHS records, Doctors records etc?

Thanks chaps!  :hi:

I declared myself a punter who had OWO from WGs on a visit to the GUM and was offered the vaccine as a matter of course. I'm not going to repeat the medical advice and information I was given wrt to the vaccine, because IMO that is something you should receive first hand for yourself at a GUM clinic, not from someone posting on the Internet.

That's the best way to do it.

On my first visit to a GUM I danced around the subject about shagging hookers and didn't get the full monty of services they offer. When I eventually fessed-up, they started pulling out the stops to make sure I was good to go - as  apposed to someone who wandered in and fancied a random health screening.

Can Doctors records and GUM records be kept separate? Mine certainly are ;) . NHS departments swap so much patient information nowadays that I prefer to go down the fake sheikh route. They don't give a fig. As long as they have a first name, D.O.B and PAYG mobile number to text your results.

I wouldnt bank on them keeping the records separate, the NHS isnt the most competent organisation when it comes to confidentiality. Stick to the fake sheikh routine is my advice.

Not all clinics offer it as standard as they wrongly assume anyone involved in this industry in anyway would already have had it done.  A bit of a silly attitude really as by not offering it to everyone lots of punters and prossies are not getting it as not everyone is completely honest when visiting a GUM including many prossies who don't say they do this job so don't get throat swabs done

next time you go ask for it, also if you do RO or DFK with a girl who does OWO make sure you get a throat swab as well as not every place offers these as standard either

Dean Street Express offers it. I told them I pay for sex and they suggested I get the Hep B vaccine too. You need three doses of it. They give you the second one month after the first one and the last one five months after that. I'm due my last dose soon.

Always a good idea to have a full and frank chat with health workers. They've heard it all and don't bat an eyelid.

That initial moment feels like a meeting at Alcoholics Anonymous where you stand up and address the room. It's probably the first time you fully admit to yourself and others that you're a punter. Well it did me.

Cheers will do,i normally say "i had a one off with an escort" when i go when really i should say next time that i am seeing them regularly.i am not prolific by any means and probably only punt a couple of times a month,do you think i would still get it?
I have only done ro with one escort but interestingly have never been offered a throat swab at burrell either.

Your GUM records should be kept entirely separate from your usual records and they don't tell your GP of tests or treatment unless you request it or you have been referred from your GP and even then they should not blab everything. Thats why the clinic I saw said anyway.

So, to recap;

Use a false name at GUM clinic as they don't mind you doing this (and give PAYG mob no. and a DOB ).
I need to tell them Iv seen WGs,
Ask for full tests,
Ask for Hep B vaccine,
Ask for throat swab test if Iv done RO, DFK with WG.

**Anything else I should know about or ask for?**

Thanks again to everyone who posts!  :drinks:

Yeah, thanks for the details.
I agree that I need to get this done
(though the opportunities to play with the missus have been very much limited over the past few years. Once this year so far, though that's all it takes to pass on the clap)

Sorry to keep banging on about it, but could anyone confirm how the blood sample is usually taken and what it tests.
I was looking to use a cholesterol test as my alibi, only to discover that they take this sample from a pin prick to the finger - so no good if my wife decides to take my lead and get her cholesterol checked if the GUM take the sample from your arm

They take blood from your arm into a vial. The mark on your arm is so small you can't even notice it. They test for HIV and Hep B, some people are immune to Hep B so they test for that too. Honestly you worry far too much, just go there and do it.

I really can't understand how some punters fret so much about it. There you are going to an unknown prossies place of work, most often than not it works out OK but in rare occasions you could be mugged, beaten up by Sergei or his mates, etc. and yet they worry about seeing a doctor.

Come on chaps put that into perspective.

Indeed. Personally i doubt most punters or WGs even go to the GUM apart from if they get infected and require treatment and some of them will go to their GP first.

Thanks Akauya
I like to lay a little groundwork with my alibis, so needed to know whether to make hints about thinking about giving blood/getting a cholesterol test etc before going to the clap clinic for the first time.

I'm not afraid of going to the docs and declaring my punting, but I was a bit anxious of having to hide a purple arm for several days

its actually not that bad, they will put a tiny plaster on it, you just need to wear long sleeve stuff for a couple days :)

One excuse you can use is to tell the missus that you have been feeling "run down" for the last week and booked an appointment at the docs and he suggested a blood test so you are having one next week. Other variances can include achy joint / back etc., where the blood test will check for inflammation...

I always seem to bruise after a blood test so need an excuse in advance in case its seen.

You can always use the "been feeling under the weather and didn't want to worry you about it dear until I got it checked out" excuse if you didn't prepare one in advance.

Wasp sting on the arm bruises similar as well for those really stuck last minute !

Other possibilities if you have a reasonable job is that your employer is doing annual health screening.  Or don't arrange your tests in the summer period where you are in short sleeved shirt territory"

Regarding Hep B, I don't know a lot about it.  If one does catch it, can it be treated or cured?

Plus many other vaccines of course.

You can get hepatitis vaccine (plus many other vaccines of course) at travel clinics such as Trailfinders in London for £40, hep A&B £65 per dose - recommended if you travel to the third world countries or might get cut outdoors e.g. fishing, boating ... use your imagination why you might think it a good idea to get vaccinated, you could even become more paranoid about getting infected after reading about the ebola outbreak :-)

FYI, blood tests that only need small amounts of blood are often taken from the finger as for some reason this is the most "up to date" reading compared to say your forearm or thigh which can be used.
Blood donors use inner elbow but this is nearly? a pint so needs a larger point.
Bruising is internal bleeding so either clumsy handling of the needle or you are very susceptible.

sorry for duplicate, missed time to edit.

Its not in the UK though so no risk to you unless you are visiting a girl from Nigeria or the other couple of countries affected who has just arrived in the UK.
There is always an Ebola problem in some of these countries but we are only hearing about this one as it has hit highly populated areas so has spread quicker and to more people.
You might as well say well some countries have Hanta virus so I am not punting in case I get it, or yellow fever, or Dengue fever or lets not forget leprosy or any other of those god awful diseases found in third world countries.  Someone somewhere always has one of these viruses or they would die out and not be able to spread anymore.

I would worry more about TB as that is back in the UK now

Had my second visit to a gum clinic yesterday, im in the middle of shitting myself although me and my partner suffer from thrush often she has developed a horrid coloured discharge to go with a thrush fueled fanny.ive got no symptoms but that can happen, im hoping if both our test come back with a bug i can talk my way out of it , im going down the route of saying these things can lie dormant and i hope she buys it, she seems to be at the minute. Ive had lots of owo and im now waiting thee results but fearing the worst.

Let this be a lesson to all those playing away, we may just have thrush but its brought it all home to me what i have to lose.im blaming it on a previous partner but it was 5 years ago ffs and i will be fucking amazed if she buys this but i have no other excuse to use, massive long shot but at the moment im getting away with it.

I fessed up to using a pro$$ie to the woman at the clinic, i felt dirty.

This has shook me up, enough to leave this game now, its scary and upsetting and has made me realise its not that uncommon to catch something. Nothing confirmed but im fearing the worst
